ordered thank you

Ordered as well.
Thanks OP.

From reading what I can find out about this watch it is only 38mm wide, can anyone confirm as that's very small for a pocket watch.

This is probably chrome plated.

eBay sellers always say stainless steel watch, but it never is, if the watch back says stainless steel back, then its just the back, so the back will not rust with the sweat from your wrist

just to mention this watch is waterproof so must be all stainless steal or wouldn't a point in letting it get wet

Nope not stainless steel, see link, most cheap watches are chrome plated but wrongly listed as stainless steel.
If watch back says all stainless steel , then it is i.e. watches from £200 up will likely be stainless steel

are we living in the 1500's?

That doesn't prove anything as its a different model.

lumsdot

so the back will not rust with the sweat from your wrist

Why would you put a pocket watch on your wrist?

You wouldn't, but if it was a stainless steel pocket watch for 27 quid then i would buy it, but its not.
Still a nice watch for the price

I don't know anyone that uses a pocket watch. It does look nice. but it's not something that I would buy or use

If it is chrome plated then it would be advertised as chrome plated stainless steel surely. I don't think an ebay seller like argos would try to mislead you in their product description. and yes the link you provide is to a chrome plated stainless steel pocket watch by the same manufaturer at 10x the price maybe thats the cost of chrome plating the stainless steel.

"Pin fastening. Pulseometer." These two features from the description, along with the 38mm diameter size (nod to Argoj), suggest it's a nurse's watch rather than a gent's pocket watch. The model number matches this watch.

"The skeleton dial allows you to see the beautiful workings within the watch and the stainless steel case and chain look handsome."

Googling the mentioned model number (LP03617/18) comes up with some links to a Nurses/Ladies watch _ as well as Argos/Hotukdeals references to the original post.

What is the metal under the chrome plate?

I can't find where it says what size it is, but the listing clearly states it's a gents pocket watch

That's quite a few wind up skeleton watches like these on eBay... For those that want a cheaper one for novelty purposes

looks really nice, but I have no use for it. Really wish I did!! voted hot.

It looks like they built the movement using stainless steel (rather than the usual brass) because it's cheaper but still less susceptible to magnetism. Can't comment on the watch case though. As others say, it's VERY small.

Bargin to finish off a wedding outfit for the groom, and a keep sake for the special day.

The same model number watch is for sale here, gold finished stainless steel (they say) quartz movement:

Can I link this to my phone via bluetooth?

Looks nice, can't really go wrong with rotary. I'll put it on display next to my other rotary pocket watch. Ordered, thanks, have some heat.

Does this watch give a pleasant vibration when the alarm goes off?

Brass is common or maybe zinc

Its £27! How much use would you want out of a £27 pocket watch before saying.....I got my moneys worth! lol

I don't trust eBay at all.

Completely unnecessary purchase - but what the hey - lets go for it!

Ahh Rotary... playing on the "Swiss Made" spiel since forever. Cheap watches that anyone who knows anything about watches does not touch with a barge pole.

If you want a nice pocket watch then go to car boot sales, antique shops, or somewhere that you can get something with character and history that people will actually give a second glance once you get it out.

Rotary are cheap crap made in china. Seiko is like a Rolex compared to this crap.

Yes. So either that's wrong; or the description is wrong and the model number is wrong. Those who get one can tell us!

If it does have a pulseometer -- the picture doesn't show one -- then that's quite a feature for a gent's pocket watch. Might even be modelled on an old doctor's watch.

too late, oos now

got mine today and its great! I've got quite a few pocket watches from antique to WWII, this is the newest one I have and think it's an absolute bargain for the money!

Thanks OP

ebay.co.uk/itm…7b6

is this one inferior? as it doesn't give a vastly inflated RRP like the out-of-stock one?
