This is a decent soundbar.

I paid £120 about 12 months ago for it and really like the sound it gives. Don't get me wrong it is not amazing, but for the price I paid and now even more so, this price it is well worth it.

As the name of it purports, it has a built in Sub so bass is quite decent. My only gripe, is that, on lower volumes, it seems to have a background "wind" noise.

thanks for the review!
I have been looking for a while now - need to give my Sony LED TV a bit of a boost and this looks ideal, especially for the price!

I bought one of these 2 years ago for £99.

The system goes into sleep mode after about 20minutes of inactivity so there's no need to worry about switching the sound bar off when you switch the TV off, however I can hear a high pitched tone when it does go into sleep mode which is probably the transformer or something...

Overall I can recommend this to improve the tinny speakers in modern day flat screen TV's.

haha yes indeed she does appreciate real speakers - we have quite the setup in our main living area.
But as the bedroom is her "domain" i have to compromise with a soundbar ha

When you factor in the cost of a divorce I think you'll find the soundbar is a better deal.

bought this last couple of weeks ago for my Sony TV. Its ok for the price and enhances the sound better than the TV.

I like this soundbar, but I think if you'd be better off spending a bit more and get one that comes with a subwoofer..............or just don't get married

Does this have a phono out for my subwoofer? I have a really lovely one, but I want to use the optical connection on my Xbox, ps3 and tv, to connect to this sound at, then phono (all it has) to connect the subwoofer, anyone know if this would work!

Thanks very much. Just bought one.

The previous model with the wireless sub was great. This ain't half bad either

Ok went for it. Been pondering a sound bar for ages and by all accounts this sounds good. Cost me £64 as I used a personal £15 off £75 pound spend code. Got to be worth £64

Thanks OP

Picked one of these up last week using this code (as this deal was actually posted about 10 days ago). Anyway, for the £69 I paid, I'm impressed. Got it sat under a 50" Panasonic LCD (LED backlit) set. OK, the screen dwarves it a bit, but it doesn't look ridiculous.

Oh, - anyone buying this please try an optical digital cable (available from eBay for a quid, probably available cheaply in local shops too), or use the RCA cables provided. The 'easiest' option is to connect with the headphone out of your TV, but this is the lowest quality option and will probably explain weird 'buzzing' / 'whooshing' noises people get with low volumes.

Also here are a list of the inputs

Inputs:
RCA Stereo Connectors (TV, DVD, DVRs, or Set - Top - Box)
3.5 mm Stereo Mini Jack (TV, MP3 Players)

ordered. Thanks OP. Now I am planning to buy an optical cable to go with it. Can someone tell me if the quality of the cable vary according to the price of the cable?

I know the price of the cable doesn't have any influence on how a HDMI cable performs. Not sure about optical cables though. Can someone enlighten me please?

Any optical cable will do as it's a digital signal and can't degrade. Either it works or it doesn't - those 1's an 0's can't escape!

Opticals are same principle you don't get better for more money.
If it works it works and if it don't its broke.

Bought! Worth auditioning at that price alone. If it's no good it can go on a spare telly or even a computer.

"Any optical cable will do"... I am certain that somewhere on teh interwbez there must be someone selling Monster optical cables with quartz glass for that higher-definition warmer sound

I picked up my Roth soundbar today and must say I am very impressed with the clarity of the sound- I am using the optical for my tv. The other 2 input jacks are also bet good quality with no interference or whining noises as some people have mentioned.
The build quality is good and has a good weight to it, comes with wall brackets too!

Glad to know. Mine is waiting in store for me to pickup.

How do you find the bass? There are some people who say it is overpowering/muddy and this is not worth it. I am kind of confused if I should ask for a cancellation from Tesco or go pick it up.

I would not say the bass is overpowering at all, infact there is a bass control on the remote so if you did find it too much you can simply turn it down. Its well worth the money

I am a retired Hifi snob forced to hang up my boots by a wife who detests wires and cables.
For the price this is a very decent unit but I am very impressed.

Tesco is doing £10 off £75 code (includes existing customers). Like me anyone who have Tesco vouchers lying around can use them with the code to make it even cheaper. Thanks OP. I hope its better than the Bush Sound Bar its replacing.

Please don't believe the snake oil about optical cables. If you got suckered than I am sorry for you. Get one that's decently made with good flexibility and don't kink it of course. (Pro audio designer for 40 years!)
