I havent seen them for 4000 either, just quoting that.

Dont think you would get the same for 850 now, 2 years is a long time.

well done op for backing what u said, i reckon it's a good deal if that's what ppl want to do.

why do ppl always try and find criticism on posts, (not just this post by the way).

if voting cold find a better/similar deal or say nothing.

if voting hot, give positive feedback, makes the op's time worthwhile

Blimey.....imagine flying aroud the world in one go......you'd be knackered when you got off....not to say what jet-lag you'd get!! - 6 stops?...is that just for drinks? haha

These flights usually cost up to £4000!

Well yes if you walk into a travel agent and say 'i'm stupid, please rip me off', then they will probably sell you these flights individually.

Good deal though for £900

Looks a good deal! Although don't think I will be able to start my travelling until may!! Boo. Heat and rep though op

this is another great travelzoo deal, worth signing up for their newsletter they often have some good deals on them

From the description:
London » Hong Kong (make your own way to) Ho Chi Minh City » Singapore (make your own way to) Bali » Darwin (make your own way to) Sydney » Auckland » Fiji » Los Angeles (make your own way to) New York » London
it sounds like you'll have to pay considerably more (£300 more?) to actually get all the flights, unless yo fancy the idea of hitchhiking across continents. cold.

Attractive on the surface but rather less so when you look into it. Competitive but is it really a hot deal?

Someone should try to come up with the cheapest way to travel around the world by plane...

Maybe. But that's part of the travelling experience, you could get train/hire car/coach inbetween places. Probably worth a flight somewhere between LA and NY though!

I think the fact that its all in one price and valid for a year makes it quite a good deal. Booking these flights individually you cost WAY way more.

i think this is pretty normal as most people want fly into one part of the country and leave via another so they can travel through

Ofcourse, the fun of travelling in the high-speed trains in far-east is great.

Like wordsworth said. Most people that do the round the world travel, want to travel by road or train through the likes of the U.S. or Australia so that you can catch alot of the country you wouldnt normally be able to see.

RTW tickets are always advertised around this price.
Totally dependent on time of year and where you go.
for example: the taxes will bump up the price in lots of countries

I have done RTW twice before and paid about £1200 each time going in Dec once and March next. Once with BA/Qantas and once with Singapore/Virgin/Air Nz. Good value for what i did.

RTW tickets are great for multiple stops and they also have some flexibility (you can date change once you've taken your first flight)

However, you mght just be better off with a straightforward london-Sydney/Auckland flight and use free stopovers on each leg.

why not just stand still for a year and save £905?....

yeah crap gag, hot from me, if i didnt have responsibilities i give that a go

Hitch hiking? No. You take cheap domestic flights. HK to Ho Chi Minh you could get for 20 quid approx. Hardly hitch hiking.

Surely if it's £300 off, then the normal price is £1205, not £4000?

not normally 4k

Been on a couple and the most i have paid in 1,100 - first one was £840.

I think its saying the flights individually would cost that

Good deal as most of the stops are popular ones - as opposed to some which have random destinations like Iceland or Peru.

my friend just done this and she loved it, i went out to meet her in LA and then we drove to Vegas and then flew to NYC (Vegas to NYC = £96 on continental via expedia) then we had a few days in New York then came home, great holiday!

Which airline do you fly with? I assume for the price you get a seat in first class, or worst case business class. I wouldn't fly with the peasants in the back for any money.

For those that have been on the RTW trips, how much money do you take with you? My mate did this trip almost identically and spent £6000 in 9 months.

Also, do you book each flight when booking the original package, or can you do it whilel travelling to decide how long you want to spend in each country?

What about working abroad, easy to get working visas??

Hot deal though, I'm looking at a b+b for the bank holiday weekend in the cotswolds, £200 for 2 nights, might jus sod it and go abroad

These seem to be sample itineraries designed to stir up interest, but you really need to call and talk to the travel agents to find out what is possible.
Round the world tickets are easy if you want to do the established routes like SE Asia, Australia, and USA, but if want something different, then you really need to talk to an agent.
Just make sure you understand the rules regarding fees for changes.

I've just done something like this. That's a pretty sweet deal you've found there if your planning on doing a lot of overland travel or book cheap/last minute local flights (a good thing to do on any RTW trip).

I just did a oneworld Explorer ticket for 16 legs (leg = flight or ground movement between airports - didn't really like that rule) for £2000. Best move I've ever made! Can move the flights whenever you want as well!

The Times had an article on it a few years ago; came up for £500, although one of the airlines (Zoom IIRC) has since gone bust.

EDIT: Here you go

Looks like a hot deal to me myself. Did pretty much the same last year, paid about £1200 for the flights, and that was after a lot of haggling with STA Travel.

People saying you can get much cheaper than this.....maybe 3-5 years ago with the strong pound and cheap fuel/air travel. I'd like to see this deal beaten (not saying it can't be done mind).

Also totally agree with the people saying go in and speak to a travel agent and customise. But if you wanna travel, do it, best thing you'll ever do, trust me

Cold from me, seems about normal price, and travelzoo link hinted it may be fixed itinerary? But, seems high end of normal round the world flight prices, for £4000 I'd expect almost Business Class, not economy.

Not the same routing, but One World Business Class, flat beds etc, with British Airways and others -
Oneworld Explorer -
3 continents Business Class £3,999

Now that's more like the way to travel if you'd be paying £4000 and earn frequent flier miles towards free flights, as round the world in Business Class will earn a ton of them

oneworld Explorer - 3 continent Economy £1,349

This is direct with the airline, so deals should be around elsewhere for less during promotions. Have done several round the world trips and love it. Always get some tickets that are 'open' dated, so that your plans can be flexible.
