Ignore the GoT gimmicky tie-in with this, I've had Royal Lochnager 12 before, and its a decent 12 year old single malt. You also get the added bonus here of a 5cl sample of Singleton of Dufftown 12 year old single malt.

Tasting notes from the masterofmalt chaps:
Nose: Creamy, aromatic nose with hints of hay, malted barley, oak and mixed peels.
Palate: Soft smoke and gingerbread, oodles of toasty spices, Demerara sugar and boiled sweets.
Finish: The finish is all about grass and honey.
Overall: A sweet, summery dram…

Oh, thanks for that, I was about to buy it. Still heat for the post though!

Never heard particularly good things about this whisky, despite its price. Still, for that money it might be worth trying if you're interested.
Not much going on with the Royal Lochnagar or the Singleton of Dufftown imho. The Clynelish on the other hand is no age statement but it's cask strength and a much more engaging whiskey (£33.95 everywhere).

Horses for courses, the game of thrones tie in is awful but RL12 certainly isn't. Can't comment how it compares to clynelish but I love this stuff if I'm in the mood for a light speyside dram and this is a great price. Looks like they're getting rid of game of thrones branded bottles with tourist season being off this year
Nice light and refreshing bottle thanks for sharing op.

The clynelish mentioned above was very unrefined in my opinion.

I purchased plenty of both from the loch fyne deal on HUKD a while back.
The GOT and 14 year cynellish is one of my favourite whisky. I get tase is subjective but the RL is simply devoid of any complexity. I can believe both are similar dish prices.

I would probably say the RL is good as an introductory whisky for newcomers as it is fairly inoffensive and will give you an idea of what whisky is like before expanding your tastes.
