Love rasmalai, but I find this brand tastes weird and not authentic. Unfortunately they don't have any competition. Texture isn't great and tastes slightly of chemicals/plastic IMO. Also, they are very stingy with how many they give in a container.

Very tasty indeed.
Quality stuff, shame my Tescos is only place to stock this brand but £3.50
Oh yeah! rassomalai but not the deserts or edible at least.

Totally agree. Morrisons previously sold Nanak Rasmalai which was way better than Royal. Not sure why they discontinued Nanak brand, which is really very authentic, infact the best ones we had. Nanak also was very generous with the quantity, and distinct taste which is unmatched.

There's a new Haldiram's brand rasmalai that I picked up from my local asian grocery store. They've only recently launched and and I must say it was one of the best ones I've ever had. Even better than what I've had in India.
yeah, voted hot. It's made with sugar dipped in sugary syrup. Can't keep up with my new years resolution already.
Love this 🔥

I think you're buying mozzarella. Easily confused.

Yet to find white folk who actually like desi mithai. The texture and sweetness does not agree with them, and this was confirmed in a recent episode of couples come dine with me

Both this and the Gulab Jamin are slightly off. I suspect they have to do something to them to prevent the sponge/dumplings dissolving in the sauce but the Gulab Jamin in partcular has a weird 'squeaky' texture. Maybe they should package the solids and sauces separately and have you combine them when heating.

If it’s squeaky, that would suggest that the syrup hasn’t soaked in enough as you said.
Heating gulab jamun?!
Sacrilege!
