sorted byFor UK homes which more or less have small rooms I would recommend a cylinder cleaner (not the spot treatment things), the ones that come with a hose and cylinder that way out can get into all the crevices easily and you can work around built furniture easier rather than your elbows hitting the wall, or falling over your table/sofa/TV cabinet etc
I've hired the cylinder type one from my local dry cleaners in the past and it worked great. Definitely like this one though, borrowed off my brother but found the hand tool very small and not as powerful as the main machine
Just remember when cleaning carpets adding an anti fungal/anti bacterial to the rinse tank greatly reduces the chances of mould and mildew growth, adds a nice smell and sanitises the carpet. I mean if you're going to clean it at least give it a nice odour and make it hygenic.
Oh and for those of you who prefer using products that aren't as toxic as the detergents you get from Rug Doctor you can use microsplitters such as the ones sold here to pre treat stains prior to cleaning.
