This is a tale of reality TV taken to the extreme, in a future where TV rules the world Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Ben Richards, a cop who has been blamed for a massacre that wasn't his fault and sent to compete on a lethal gameshow called "The Running Man" where he and his fellow contestants have to run for their lives while being chased by ruthless gladiator style killers.

Directed by Paul Michael Glaser who is perhaps most familiar as Starsky from "Starsky And Hutch" and based on a novel by Stephen King this is much more than just another Arnold vehicle. It is a witty and well-written satire on America's obsession with TV that seems more and more probably as we get more extreme reality shows each year. The film has the requisite thrills and spills that you'd expect from an Arnie film as well as clever dialogue from the writer of the first two "Die Hard" films. A brilliant action movie that is more relevant now than ever.

Arny is a bit like John Wayne, he acts exactly the same way in every film, mind you, I can't stand John Wayne either!

If you've heard this before then look away!

A film producer was going to make a film on the lives of three composers. He contacted Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Michael Douglas said, "I'll be Shubert".
Robert De Niro said, "I'll be Mozart."
Arnold Schawarzenegger said, "I'll be Bach."

:giggle:

Great film, great price!

Thanks rawhead

Next cheapest is £3.89 @ sendit !

Amazing film, naturally I had to buy the 'ultra brilliant' region 1 version though I was actually not aware that the region 2 version had finally come out.
www13.cd-wow.com/det…486 Mmm tasty.

I wouldn't say £2.99 for this old film was such a good deal.

HMV have some much better and newer films at that price, e.g. The Pianist.

One of the best arriie quotes of all time...
[Amber]What happened to Buzzsaw?
[Arriie]He had to Spilt!
