I had one of these and couldn't stand the smell and taste of the water boiled in it.

I have bought one & have been very happy with it, quiet & quick boil with no smell or taste issues.

Great job in putting everyone off this deal instantly.

Perfect timing, I was halfway thru ordering some games to collect tomorrow (25% off plus 3 for 2) when I saw this deal, just what I was looking for. Heat added

You'll need the 3 year warranty....

Quite strange. I have been using this kettle for about 4.5 years now, never notice any smell .. ...
Well it might be someone **** the kettle and the following day someone is boiling it ...

Last one of these I purchased leaked .
Took it back and exchanged, two months later leaked again.
Ended up with a full refund.
They seem to leak in the same area around the clear plastic water level.

You only get the smell if you leave in the one cup red plastic filler level thing; remove it. That's only there to help you measure 1 cup of water exactly, because the measuring cup chart on the side starts from 2 cups.

I had read about that long before i bought it, and removed it before i used it and have never experienced any odd taste.

I disagree, this taste/smell has long been associated with the use of plastics in the body of the kettle.
I was once treated to an in depth explanation of the chemicals involved but once it got heavily into the "chloro-phenolic thingy whatsits", my attention began to wander! X)
I don't much care what causes it, I just don't like the damned taste of it!
I use a glass and stainless steel one now and the water tastes as God intended it to.
...Err, I hasten to add, not a crappy Russell Hobbs one as the lids fall off after a few months!

look on Amazon reviews you will see many reviews saying the same thing as me.

never thought of it before but not much cop if you're left handed as the water level viewer is only on the one (and wrong) side...

I've had one of these for 3 weeks and I have exactly the same problem. I'm going to get a refund.
