What a great idea. I have a kettle that does one cup and always moaning about no being able to use the whole kettle. This is perfect
Have this kettle, does a good job, almost 2 years on with no issues.
Very good deal particularly because of the 2 years warranty, make sure you keep the box and receipt safe.
How's the one cup hot water. Is it really boiling, or just very hot?
I bought one of those tefal ones a few years ago. It didn't quite get to boiling point, just very very hot water, which I find no good enough for tea. I need boiling water for a good cuppa. I returned that after a few cups of not so hot tea. Not sure if things have improved with this kind of technology now.

Anyone comment on this, does it now do a good job with water hot enough for a good cup of tea?

Edit: just seen the reviews on amazon about leaks and this blowing your fuses on every other review.

The original Tefal ones weren't in production long as like you said they didn't produce true boiling water. I have the Breville hot cup and that certainly is scalding hot water. As Mattwood says, it does a good job and has had it for almost 2 years without issue.

Found this video youtube.com/wat…aak they have a toster in the range too!

These are amazing i have a Breville Hot cup very handy
looks like the water is hotter out of the kettle part when poured than the dispenser. Would like one for ease but like v.hot drinks
I have a Breville hot cup and the water is piping hot, these are meant to be the same. You could always buy it, if its not as it seems, take it back for a refund - nothing to lose
How do you order these kettles then?

Just pop instore and pot luck?

Thanks k9plus1 for your very insightful comment. This is known as a "heads up". People who may want to purchase are now aware that the deal is on the way. Lidl always publish deals a week in advance.

People who may be interested in this kettle will be grateful that I have taken the time to post this. I would rather post it a week early than people go out and pay £69.99 - Forgive me if I am wrong, but I thought the whole point of HUKD was to share information to save each other money?

I am sure a lot of us have been in a position where we have bought an item thinking it was a bargain, for someone then to inform us they were selling the same item cheaper elsewhere a week earlier/later.

Thanks for the heads up OP, I have been contemplating the one cup kettles for qwuite sometime, but was concerned that when I needed over a litre of boiled water I would dig out the old kettle! I will see if my local store has it on Monday and if so will buy and try
I've had this kettle for about 2 1/2 years with no problem the water is boiling I have my tea nearly black and the water is hot enough to do this no problem

I bought the smaller Breville hot cup a couple of months ago for the same price as this. It is great, the water is boiling and there is only me that drinks hot drinks in the house, however, it can be a pain if there are several people here wanting a hot drink - this Russell Hobbs 2 in 1 would have been a better buy as it gives you both options.
50 seconds to do the quick one cup boil in this video, that's much longer than I thought it would take:
youtube.com/wat…-kk
96 seconds to boil 4 cups in the kettle.
What is clever, and wasn't obvious to me, is that it takes the water for the quick boil from the kettle, there's no tank to top up as with a coffee machine.

Edit: While this feature is clever, it also seems to be the Achilles heel of the kettle - there are lots of reports that the valve that draws water to the quick boil seems to often leak, and sometimes short out your electrics - slightly worrying. Also the bizarre design flaw that the water level measurements are basically hidden when you have the kettle in place. The one facing you is behind the stand, and the one on the other side requires you craning your neck around the back to see it. Thus I imagine you have to remove it from the stand much more often, and I'd guess that contributes to the leaks. Seriously having second thoughts about it now.

Er, we were going to buy one tomorrow but since my hubby is disabled I don't fancy having to pay out for an electrician when the fuses blow.

Could you confirm if the body of the kettle is stainless steel or plastic please? thanks.

I would take notice of hnicky9 message above, they have had this for 2 1/2 years without issue. I am sure that if there was safety issues with the kettle, they would have withdrawn it from sale well before now. I am also disabled and find lifting a full hot kettle and pouring it very difficult at times. I bought the breville hot cup a couple of months ago which was the same price as this, I wished I had waited. The hot cup is ideal for dispensing boiling water quickly for one cup, but doesn't have the kettle option which would be handy when family call.
How long do you think this deal will run for? I'd like this, but I'd want to buy it when I get my next payment in a week come Monday.

I should think they will have all gone by then. Lidl change their deals all of the time.
Picked mine up this morning at 8am when doors opened in the Stirling branch. 4 on display. Thanks for the heads up last week.
Just bought One from Lidl, its very good, reading some of the reviews say you cant see water level on kettle when its on the stand, but this one i have the levels are next to the handle, the video on you tube has the early version so im hoping any other issues are sorted
as it is its a Great Buy and it will save money, So Grab One .
I have just picked one up from Eastleigh Lidl they only had 2! I rang the main customer number first as didn't want a wasted journey, thanks OP look great am just setting it up. Glad it actually dispenses 240ml which is perfect for a mug for tea. Will let you know how it gets on. It seems to come with 2 year guarantee, but no instructions in box to register the product online.... Anyone know how to register it?

You will have to time it like that man on youtube, he didn't seem too accurate with his timings! My Breville hot cup takes about 30 seconds. Pleased you managed to get one.

Did they keep one for you? Seems like there isn't much stock about. I would surmise that your receipt is the guarantee, but I would call them just to make sure. Hope you bought plenty of tea bags
Hi DianneNE they wouldnt reserve any stock for me, I travelled 15 miles to the store and luckily they had 2 left! It seems to boil quicker than the video suggested, a slight metallic taste at the moment to the water but think that will go eventually. I did follow the instructions correctly in how to set it up before using. It is brill!
None in stock in Cricklewood store in NW london

None in stock in London at all lol

I have registered the product on Russell Hobbs website for a 3 year warranty!
sent the wifie to get 1 to upgrade our Tefal 1 cup .. she arrived @ 9:10am to find only 2 left girl behind the till said they had sold just about 20 in an hour
Usual scam from Lidl to get the punters in, they only get a couple per store and hope you'll buy other stuff to make your trip worthwhile.
Not taking anything away from the OP's deal though, a bargain post and well done to those few who managed to get one.

Unfortunately, it is not only Lidl that is guilty of this scam, I think a lot of retailers use this sort of practice to reel you in. If they quoted that there was only, say 20 per store or a very limited amount, people wouldn't bother going. Plus I think the staff get theirs and family orders first, which you can't blame them as it is a perk of the job.
Am gutted have noticed that the damn thing is leaking from the bottom of the unit! Someone said this was a fault, now will probably not be able to exchange as none will be left! Really like the kettle and the dispenser idea, if I claim under the manufacturers warranty will probably have to pay to get it too them, what a situation! And to top it off, will have to drive 26 miles round trip to exchange or take it back....

If you add all that up it probably equates to the RRP of £69.99 in total with fuel, time spent, cost of goods etc. lol!!!!

Knew it was too good to be true!

I would contact the manufacturer and explain your situation and how disappointed you are after having to travel so far to get the kettle in the first place. Say that you thought you were buying high quality goods from a reputable company and feel very let down as well as the safety aspects. Let them know that you have had to spend money on fuel as well as your time getting to the shop. They may send you a new kettle, or at least a prepaid label to post it directly back to the manufacture

Hi all

Took it back to store, as russell hobbs have discontinued this product due to some of its downfalls, gutted, if it would have worked I would have loved it.... Why anyone else doesnt do something like this is beyond me, it makes sense. Lidl had no stock left and didnt even look in the box just refunded me back, sad but now on the hunt for a new kettle along the same lines as this one.... dont think I will find one!

Quick update - took back to Lidl for refund as the item tripped all the downstairs electric twice. Stopped working completely. Seems to be a common fault after doing some researching online.
Thanks. You made me feel great for not getting it in the first place as I planned to travel 40miles to get it.

It is disgusting that they are selling these kettles knowing that they have these common (potentially, dangerous) faults.
