My goodness, these things take up a lot of space. Am I missing the point here? my cheapo steam iron just needs water adding and off it goes. Use de-ionised water ensures it never gets dirty with limescale.

I have one of these, not the same brand. Makes ironing so much easier and quicker. I thought it was gimmicky when they first came out but now I could never use a standard iron.

Can you explain (to an idiot like me!) how it helps ironing please? - does it give a much more consistent and longer steam while you iron?

Yes you can keep a constant steam on while ironing. They really are worth their money if you do a lot of ironing.
I've been using steam generator irons for years now, got my first one off bid up TV lol, definitely couldn't consider going back to an ordinary iron.
I recently bought this but had to send it back it keeps getting stuck to the clothes.

My wife (who funnily enough used to work as a presenter/assistant on bid up TV) was just telling me how she used to sell these on there - ironically we are now in need of one!
