I love a matching kettle to go with my kettle
I bought one of these a few months ago from Curry's, the mechanism that holds the lid shut is badly designed, doesn't stay closed unless repeatedly pushed shut. The plastic "mechanism " gets stuck in the lid housing and thus the lid doesn't stay shut...I do live in a hard water area and I'm sure that contributes to the problem, nonetheless the kettle is kept clean and it shouldn't happen after a couple of months use.

I am thinking of returning it to Curry's ..which will be fun ...NOT

My guess is,It's faulty because it's from currys rather than the product itself

I've had several of this kettle and also live in a hard water area, the catch is above the spout so you get limescale deposits on and around the catch from water getting into the lid (mostly through the catch hole) when your pour it, also if you allow the filter to fur up even more water gets forced into the lid when you pour it and the catch furs up even quicker.

I used to unscrew the lid and clean the catch quite often and also discarded the limescale filter. I only bothered to get replacements when their flimsy switch mechanisms broke.

I used to have a kettle with a similar sprung loaded catch mechanism that didn't have this problem because the catch was 'Y' shaped so that it latched either side of the spout, keeping the catch(es) away from the water, a much better design.
