Cheapest price for this card I can see. At this price it's good - faster than a 1080 in some games and for a bit less money.

Got 16 for mining. Thanks OP!

It's now £548.99.

I'm not quite sure where you got "for a bit less money" from, there's a GTX 1080 at the same retailer for exactly the same price (£449.99), and at least that one's in stock now...

Be interesting to see the Vega 56 release price, benchmarks put it very similar to the GTX1070, so it needs to be cheaper to be worthwhile.

Ye I'd rarther get a 1080 tbh lol

someone is buying them the site is saying they sold a 1000 in half an hour and are now sold out

AMD RX Vega 56/64 seems to be performing slower in the first comparison video I've watched vs the 1070/1080; I have about ten more videos to watch on my notification tab before i take the plunge. Its not looking overly exciting so far...

The retailer is trying to hype it up to make it look like they are selling like hot cakes..

sold like hot cakes there are none left
maybe miners but they use a lot of power

The NDA on Vega benchmarks lifted just over an hour ago, so here's something to read.

Vega Benchmarks

TL;DR - Vega64 is slightly slower than GTX1080. Vega56 is slightly faster than GTX1070.

Apprently the 56 is pulling ahead of the 1070 but 64 is trailing the 1080

Will pick up a Vega 64 and a freesync monitor when my 5 year old 1440p monitor gives up for good me thinks.

I'm yet to read one review that recommends this over the 1080. They do recommend the 56 though.

This seems like a decent price so far given it seems to sit between the 1070 and 1080 - However early reports seems to suggest this is pretty poor for mining given its very high power consumption this may change through optimisation but given the timescales the difficulty increase may outpace this.

MY BAD..... LOL

Meaty psu required.

Cheapest I can find this is £550! Who is insane enough to spend £100 more than a gtx 1080 on a heating system.

winter's coming

Could this be one of the moments where AMD hype a new graphics card and everyone buys it? Vega 64 seems to run very hot. So does the Vega 56 compared to the 1070FE but not so bad.

Anand suggest the 56 model offers a price/performance over 56 but more expensive at the socket.

Anand don't seem to think this is a great Crypto currency card albeit new bios or software upgrades could chnage that. I wonder how many miners will return these cards?

Other downside is these cards are huge. Volta Nvida's next upgrade or platform should be out in new year. Might be better waiting for that.

Question is will all this demand for Vega chips help the supply of Nvida 1060/1070 and Radeon570 and 580 GPUs?

If anything, this is an impressive offering by AMD. Almost matches or beats Nvidia's GTX 1070 & 1080 in some games (albeit over a year late and for more money) and doubles up as a heater for winter!

A great buy.

and burns fossil fuels to run

Remember the miners will issue firmware to help improve these for mining. The miners are an IT community. That number could easily rise.

Interesting read on mining numbers. Sure Vega gets 34 or so hashrate. but the average system watts mining is 100-160 more watts than a 1070 pending on model. Also pending on what power saving options you choose. When you take into account 1070 power watts it looks slightly better.

I still wonder what thes hashrates may be in a few months time once these GPU are optimized. 100 hashrate looks a long way off here.

Nvidia will now just release a driver instead of a gpu to counter AMD's pittyful offering.

Man this card is dissapointing no wonder they where not showing fps in the recent tests and year after the 1080 and just about manages to match it at a higher power draw if it had come out the same time as the 1080 that would be fine

Was looking to upgrade my Evga gtx 980 to new RX . Ended up buying GTX 1080 ti for 666.66 . Now seeing how much these retails for & their performance trailing behind . A kick to the balls .

wccftech.com/amd…er/

Rumours of a price hike on way. £666.66 for 1080 seems a lot. Did you over pay? Albeit Vega 64 heating devices run very hot.

The Vega cards have a lot of tecnology that over years could push it ahead of 1080 more. Of course pends how much Nvida have held their cards back with drivers?

Other rumours suggest most stock has now been sold out. Overclockers and Aria out of stock. Scan charing £611. Overclockers have it at pre order. My guess is miners swiped a lot of the stock. Good news for AMD if they can sell stock that quickly. Bad news for consumers as no price pressure on Nvida. Especially if prices spike £100.

It was the 1080 ti he bought for £666 i got one at the same time the asus stix oc which is currently going for £755 so seems like a good buy even though i got slated for spending that much on a gpu at the time i dont regret it at all. People spend more on sky in a year to watch football it depends what your into. Im glad i didnt wait for vega now seems like amd have alot of catching up todo at the top end of the gpu market maybe they relise theres more money to be made at the mid range thats what most people buy.

Bit gutted that this never lived up to the hype. A year too late imo. Wish AMD would just keep quiet about CPU and GPU launches that aren't imminent.

The 64 uses 20% power than even a 1080ti, and its built on a smaller fab.
So as I said when the R9 was released, AMD are still at least a generation behind nvidia in performance/watt.

A great buy? The 1080, from 1.5 years ago, beats the RX Vega 64 and costs the same as their mythical 449.99 launch price.

AMD have already removed the launch price, which offered retailers a rebate on sales. (OCUK confirmed this).

Even at 449.99, Vega 64 is not a great buy, it's loud, it's hot, it's late. It doesn't beat it's direct competition.

And now, it appears AMD have pushed for a silent price hike, cheapest you can buy is 570 quid.

You can get a 1080 TI for 50 quid more and that's over 30% faster.

Unless you have some mad brand loyalty, or are convinced that FreeSync is the way forward, this is not a 'great buy'.

I was being sarcastic.

Fair enough if the Ti version. Still pondering what to do with my graphics. £330 for a 1070 seems okay. Not sure the Vega 56 will be worth the pre order rush on the 28th.

In some of the reviews they do state Vega 64 has a launch price. AMD will need to do wonders here with drivers and firmware to get these chips performing better.
