sorted byA 3 week long and wet grass, used up 6 x 4amp battery to cut A small back yard.
The problem isn't even the batteries not lasting, it's the constant clogging up due the wet grass.
I struggled with my petrol mower for years because the blighter wouldn't die, despite being 29 years old and never being looked after right. The Miley Cyrus of mowers, but it lived on anyway. Going from backbreaking uphill climbs (well, slight incline but it might aswell be with the heavy petrol boi Infront) to briskly strolling around with this was worth the upgrade alone. Light to the point I was worried how cheap and Fisher Price My First Mower it feels in comparison to a real manly, oily, petrol-stink mower. But honestly it's holding up real well even after chewing up the odd rock or crashing into the verge. To single-handedly rotate the mower 180 degrees when I get to the edge is still a joy for the old spine compared to before.
My cutting height lever has some magic ability (read: fault) to go from the highest setting where I left it right down to the lowest without me noticing. I no longer try and do mine in stages even when I've left it a while, just go straight in on lowest but it's not cut out on me yet.
. Just a heads up. It's great if you have relatively short grass. Sadly, we'd just moved into a house and it hadn't been done for quite some time. I had to set it to the longest setting, mow the lawn. Then take it down to the shorter setting and do it again. Basically, there's not enough torque from the battery powered motor compared with a battery or petrol variant.
Fair enough I don’t have the most extensive experience with multiple mowers but this was a fab mower. Light, quiet and does a good job without tearing up the lawn which I’ve had with a previous mower before. I believe this will come with a “mulcher” tool as well if that is off interest?
I’ve used this on damp grass and its been fine with no hassle but it does clog up and struggle with taller patches. You’ll find that you’ll need to trim it down before hand either with a strimmer or using highest setting and then giving it a few passes.
Battery wise I use the 5amp and it drains just under half and I have a relatively small garden so bare that in mind. Also the big downside for me is that this mower lasted 2 years and now wont start up (its not the battery as it still powers my other ryobi tools) but that is more likely due to negligence (mower lived in a garden box and inside a damp garage as well as go through a house move) rather than a general fault you’ll find if you take care of it
