I think this is a decent deal. As far as I can make out this model is one of Ryobi's newest brushless drills utilising their HP technology, but at the same time not using e-torque which I think some people have had some grip with. If only their festive voucher was working...

For comparison, a similar model on Amazon which includes a magnetic bit holder and depth gauge - but is not as powerful as the X:

When smaller and more compact combi's like this 135nm beast from Milwaukee exist for just a few quid more, with cheaper and better quality batteries on offer, not sure why people persist in this lacklustre DIY brand.

Both brands are owned by TTI ironically and generally ryobi works out cheaper whilst offering plenty for the home DIY guy. And that's what you said - it's for DIY. If you want to spend more for pro tools go ahead but I think TTI had the positioning of the brand very much in mind. YMMV and you choices are your own but I've had positive experiences with their tools for the kind of jobs I do. The tool here will be great for most DIY jobs..
