AMD Ryzen™ 3 3100 & 3300X

Available to preorder, £99.99 for the 3100 and 3300X £114.99.

more info here:

The AMD Ryzen 3 3300X, along with the Ryzen 3 3100 have finally brought the groundbreaking Zen 2 architecture to the entry-level PC market for the first time. This segment of the lineup was curiously missing when Team Red unveiled Ryzen 3rd Generation back at Computex 2019, so it's nice to see this platform available to more people.

Because there is some crucial improvements that 3rd Generation Ryzen brings to the table, like PCIe 4.0 and better IPC (instructions per clock) performance, it's a big deal that it's now available to the budget end of the spectrum.

Coupled with the AMD B550 chipset that should be showing up in budget motherboards in June 2020, building a PC just got a whole lot cheaper. This will be one of the best processors for folks who are building budget gaming PCs, as it delivers excellent gaming performance at a budget cost – but more on that in a bit.

The 3300x is an absolute beast for the price.
Similar framerates perhaps, but frametime (smoothness) is considerably better on the 3600. You are not wasting money going to Ryzen 5.
3300X compared to an i7 7700, easily comparable, Intel must be getting worried!

How about an ideal graphics card/ motherboard to pair with it since I was looking at the ones I started earlier and for the motherboard I was thinking about the b450 tomohawk? i would not recomend a Tomahawk for your budget, too much % down on ur motherboard, bad choice.

the tomahawk is a fantastic MB, but any B450is great, ur money is better spent elsewhere.

Hi mate I don't know much about current PC parts but I'm looking to build a PC and needed some help. So I was looking at a R5 3600 or maybe a 1600AF paired with a Rx590 or 1660 (if I buy the 1600AF). I'm only going to do minor gaming but would be using Photoshop quite a bit and various music creating software. I only have a budget of around £600. Is it possible to get an ideal build our of you?

I agree tempted to pick a 3300x up before the scalpers do n up the price. I was looking at 3600 but this comes damn close for less

Think you’re going to struggle unless you already have some parts (monitor, storage drive and such)

It's a bad time to buy into Ryzen at the moment unless you are going for X570. There seems to be a lot of evidence at the moment that only X570 and B550 are going to support Zen3.

It’s doable. All depending on how much you spend on Case, PSU, mobo etc.

Price up your CPU and GPU and 16GB DDR4 and work from there.

Think about if you want to spend a bit more on a board that will be future proof (Zen 3) or if you’d rather have a fancy looking NZXT case with epic cable management etc.

Budget at least £50-60 for a decent 600w PSU.

What you have left then will dictate how large an SSD/M.2 you can buy!

Ah okay so that's what all this zen3 business is about . Sorry I'm not up to date with parts so am a bit of a novice in todays day and age so didn't really know what everyone meant with this zen3 talk.
Yeah at £115 the 3300x is the goto gaming CPU at this point, have some heat
I'm still using a i7 6700k @4.5ghz, been using it for 5 years or so. Waiting for the new 8 core from AMD.. I'm expecting huge ipc gains for gaming.. Its lacking right now (compared to my current cpu)

The next generation of Ryzen CPUs. This is likely the last generation AM4 that will be supported by series 4 boards, so series 5 is likely to give you better CPU upgrade prospects down the line without updating the board.

1600 AF is still better value, same goes for 2600.

AMDs next processors due out later this year (Zen 3 or Ryzen 4000 series) only work on 500 series motherboards. So if you build a system and use a 400 series motherboard you wont be able to upgrade to one the new Zen 3 chips at a later date without also changing your motherboard.

Yes the high end X570 and the soon to be released B550 mid range board.

As well as being compatible with Zen 3 they also feature PCIe 4.0 which allows for faster storage and graphics cards.
B450 1000 / 2000 / 3000*series and now 4000**
b550 3000 4000 series

*Bios update required unless "max".
** Upgrade bios only to zen3, cant be used to downgrade, maybe limited between companys.. more will follow.

The issue with the low end B450 boards is compromise, either terrible VRMs (and no VRM heatsink) or only 2 DIMM slots. But I do agree that at that budget a Tomahawk is probably too expensive.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see good deals on B450 as soon as B550 is released next month.
if u want a budget elite gaming rig then get the 3300x.. ive got to admit it looks impressive,.. for anything away from that, ryzen 5... and on budget thats the AF..

If you are doing more intensive work like ps and music prod then get a 1600af or 3600. A, better CPU would do you better thah a better GPU, however a 3300x won't be that bad and u doubt youll notice the difference between the two.
