It's a nice build for a beginner but without a graphics card it's limited on what you can play.
I'm on the look out for a new pc. Doesn't need to be gaming spec. Just Web browsing. Spread sheets. And being able to add a bigger hard drive. My old pc is playing up. And it's quite old now. I have Windows 10 and put a 500gb ssd in it about a year ago. Presuming I could transfer my Windows to this pc somehow. Appreciate any tips. I guess it's all on you tube how to do this.

You would still need to buy a new Windows licence but they are only about a fiver.

You will still need to purchase a lic. in most cases as the lic code will be activated against the motherboard.

sounds like this will be right up ur street to be honest.

u can just swap the SSD /hdd over though. but ur best doing a new fresh installation for the new system. so u wont get any corrupted drives, (before someone corrects me im aware of software to correct errors but still.. its advisable to do a refresh, spec if ur coming from an intel line up and so on.)

Does this mean you can't move licenses from one build to another anymore? Is the license locked against the build?
Could anyone tell me if I could upgrade this to be a "gaming PC" at a later date? Kids are after one but i want them to get moneys worth out of their Switch that they had for xmas first. However really in need of a new PC now as laptop is on its last legs and this seems ideal.

If you log in to windows with your Microsoft Account. Then check in the activation section. It should say that the license is linked to your Microsoft Account, rather than a Digital License, assuming it is a genuine license. When you move your SSD to your new machine, it will either 'just work', if you login to the same Microsoft Account when setting up windows, or you can go to troubleshooting and tell it that you have changed hardware. 99% of the time it will work, but the old pc will lose its license... if you dont have a microsoft account, then just set one up, even if just for this purpose. The license will forever be linked to you, rather than the hardware and you can move it about as you see fit.
Would this be any good for a VMWare ESXi Home Lab?

Would this be any good for a VMWare ESXi Home Lab?

This is only a 4 core, 4 thread cpu, similar in spec to say an i5 3470 from 6 or 7 years ago, so although great value, no spare cores really for losing on VMware? It may well work, but if you give the resources to VMware, windows will be starved of them. Perhaps try to get a more multi core processor, even the r5 3400g, with 4 cores, but 8 threads, but an extra £70 or so. If you can afford a discrete graphics s card of any description, then the ryzen 5 1600AF is a cracker for the asking price and well suited to your needs.

They can be moved, so long as you link it to your Microsoft account

If you have a genuine Retail Win10 licence then you can transfer as many times as you want so long as only active on a single machine at a time. If you got the free upgrade from Win7/8 then you can transfer once to a new PC (but see OEM below.)

If you have an OEM licence then according MS's licence rules you can't transfer it to a new PC (it should be tied to the motherboard) but I have read reports of people reactivating after a motherboard change so it may be possible to transfer the free upgraded licence more than once.

If you have a cheapie eBay then likely a MSDN key from a developers licence; might work, might not, such keys can be activated multiple times and it appears MS have been turning a blind eye.

There are various ways to transfer depending on if you have a product key (the well known 5 x 5 alphanumerics format) or a digital licence, and if digital whether or not linked to your MS account. Do a web search, there are many articles but they say pretty much the same thing. The MS blurb:

I can tell you have no Visual Studio or Tech net subscriptions. If you did you would know your description on how they work is exceedingly out of date and have not functioned like that for a number of years.

The key point on licencing is what is termed a "perpetual licence" that was clarified for them (rather than subscription you quote) which both MS and Oracle terms were judged (more than once) to be illegal. The company that did raise that challenge (reselling OEM licences) also lost on copyright for duplicating physical discs and artwork not reselling OEM licences.

OP has specced a 500W PSU, so it should be able to handle a separate medium power graphics card to take over (disable) the on-board Vega8.
I am not an expert in these matters though, so maybe the OP would be able to confirm if I'm right, or talking
He may also be able to tell you what would be a suitable graphics card for your budget (which is ... ?)
ive just updated the post as this could have a 450PSU now.

when i posted this last time, i went of the original build as per the other CCL ebay deals which list the PSU and they match the same listening on the own website,

the original listing is here: cclonline.com/pc/…pc/
*over there does have higher ram in the drop downs* but its not on the offer..

this build last time had a 500W PSU Fractal Design Essence 500W 80 PLUS PSU

however they have done alot of PSU updates today, the listing on the original is now a Corsair VS Series VS450 450W 80+ PSU

they have updated quite alot of the prebuilds today, on the main website though the day.

the reason for the PSU changes, as i do talk to CCL as i question some initail changes in the "mini stryker is down to stock shortages due to this virus, however ive told them to add afew more into that line which they have done so for us, so do expect afew changes in their prebuilt line as this gets worse with this virus. .

2400mhz memory cripples the onboard vega gfx so this is a pointless build for gaming when all you need to do is spend the £20 it cost more on some 3000mhz dual Channel gaming memory and get much better results, you should know better with your knowledge of tech and so should CCL for that matter, they clearly show they don’t give a stuff about the PC achieving best performance, they choose and only give options for basic standard cheap as possible none gaming memory on a gaming PC ?

this can amount to as much as 10fps more in some games a the Vega chip uses the system memory

it is actually a very good office PC And with eBay taking of there extremely high 10% eBay fees it is good deal, just not a gaming PC like you proclaim to show in your many many many many many many CCL deals

just pop into the CCL admin panel you have access to and add a 3000mhz option then your sorted

I dont work for CCL.... ive posted many AWD/Ebuyer/Amazon products...

when it comes to prebuilts CCL shines out cos there better..... if AWD / Ebuyer want me to post theres hey, show better ones on there site as i scan there websites!.

and no u havnt hit a nerve, just covering your accusation when u say i must know better when im a PC TEC,

the idea behind ukhotdeals is to share "deals" and of "interest items"

as for your comment PC TEC, im a gadget person indeed, spec PC's..... and if u are then u know full well that the "gaming market in PC is % wise is nothing compared to the % used as typical "Desktops" ......... the vega CPU are perfect "desktop home PC".... this fits the bill nicely.

Some of the ebay deals are crap, with there inflated items, but i dont look at that i go of the total price after discount and compare it to the rest, hence the reason for this, its better here then direct, ive choosen to layout a £300 odd method to break down the deal where as i could of done it like a £270 without the HDD, inline with the many 2200G i did last week from from Ebay/Ebuyer. the office type!..... and ive covered off, about the higher MHZ in ram, knowning full well if i didnt say anything the first comments repeatly would be it needs higher ram,..... for a gaming rig,!.... now i did say LOW LOW Gamer rig in line with lower then standard vega 8 with higher ram cos it can be perfectly well for retros, non the less which a lot of typical desktop users doo on there home PC's..

ive actually ASKED Ebuyer and AWD for custom builds for here, CCL too. going of the trend of people asking me, over 100 people ive helped in my inbox, and ive pointed them to AWD/Ebuyer/CCL & scan depending on there needs, where one suits one the other might suit another, spec if that person wants windows prestalled then the AWD deals can be better.

ive given them all suggestions.... "feedback" indeed.. ive given them all feedback, some times the idea ive sent them pops up.

i.e: Adding RGB fans in the choosen mix, adding more cases, even stated which cases which wasnt done, but other cases came on laters. adding dif rams. indeed, even asking them to pop the 1600AF in to the Ronnin deal which isnt here? so many.. so many ignored.., and that also applies to AWD/Ebuyer....... weather they take on board my feedback is down to them......... as a user!

Do u know why ive given feedback do these companies?.......... is to help members on here!. i get no gain out of it at all. but if i can be helpfull to others so be it......

They dont send me deals,........

i find the deals on their websites......................... and sometimes my feedback and trend of people i tell of ideas has popped up.

if ukhotdeal mods, look into my inbox they will find a hell of a lot of comments from me telling users what good items are in their products,.... but what isnt, so call up and ask for the alternative,........ TREND!..... and my suggestion has brought some ideas forwards, not all.

Question,

Have any of the deals submitted been altered by the seller just before or after your post,?

i already know the answer, so the answer is yes, after your influence and your post therefore 100% should be banned but it’s not, every time .... as the post is then changed to suit so seller intervention which is a banable offence

When i post an AWD deal.

The link goes to the main product, what u find in the main product url is not the best deal, but when u edit it in the drop down menu,
hence the reason i got into detail with whats best in the drop down menus,

this also applies with Ebuyer and scan hower falcon is even difficult.

with CCL u can point your choosen selection, to the product ur talking about, as each item u move changes the url code in the numbers, 100002040000030050000500000003 if u change the 5 to a 4 it point from say a 1660 super to a 1660.

so no they havnt changes as i speak to people though the comments regard the product to be helpfull..

back in december the Ronin deal which was a fav, for ages, gaming Plus motherboard due to demand went high due to the fact of demand as that ronin product line is a live item based on product prices with zero build cost it looked like,. so i edit the post and mention the gaming X board is the best deal from now, and changed the URL and mentioned it. from the moment i first posted it was say the 26th december and i updated it say 3rd january..

2 weeks ago i posted another deal, which was spot on, and afew days later they removed the item in the package so i killed the post and redid the item with the new product. hence the repeat styker.

so no there hasnt been any changes by the seller straight after ive posted, as i talk to folks.... as i said and i click the links as i speak and people ask me in the choosen what do i think of say a £600 build idea when ive posted a £500 link in them, so ive gone into them again,

over time a item such as a PSU might of changes, a motherboard been removed, because im giving direct links.... but not straight after posting absolulty not, just as they redo there posts, cos i post the extention,

this could easily be resolved if i post: cclonline.com/pc/…pc/

then post this:
cclonline.com/pc/…01/

but as for your "straight after posting" then absolulty not, a week later 2 weeks later possible. if they done updates. but i keep an eye on that and repost or updated the link.
so ur saying, i cant post the styker deal.................. which i mention in the early styker deal this:

this package needs extra fans: go into the main ccl website and add in fans, then pay in one go as a tip? then when u get ur invoice ask them to add in fans, of which i said on the main posts, CCL need to sort this issue out?.............. as these builds need more fans, so they added them? .........

You should not be in touch with them, no issues pushing the deals, issue is when you or anyone else creates or changes a deal specifically for UKHD if you don’t then I retract my comments but the evidence Suggests you do get in touch with these sellers and help the create a deal when other sellers can’t even get a genuine deal posted by its customers. Boils my blood as I am sure you can understand.

Thank you Sadden 84 for the effort you put in your deals
I would not take to heart any criticism. Criticism is good as it can help us uninformed what to look for?

Whether people buy or not is up to them, as the saying goes you can take a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
these are some of the comments im making, ive also emailed them hey, any chance u can do this.... or this or this n this..... loads of ideas..... and about 3 changes out of 30 have come up!....... ive not mentioned, oi do this to get on ukhotdeals, but ive mentioned is there any chance of adding more options more choice, and my idea is for folks on here. if they do.. not them. not me... and ive said the same messages on the forum over n over i.e the fans inside the cases, same as the office type case idea on one, said it on comments on here over n over to get people to call up n swap cases.... and they have done so, with AWD it was about 1x16gb rams but getting them to add 2x8gb rams.... its little bits! to make what they had better nothing more.

AWD: why are selling 1x16gb in builds, not even mention ukhotdeals,

CCL why dont u add in more fans inside ur packages there gaming PCS...! common never even mentioned ukhotdeals.
giving them feedback as a customer "myself"

btw: ive had ZERO reponce back, yeah no problem we will do that. hey yeah we will do this, zero..

i really went to town on my email to CCL oi ur selling gaming cases with no fans WTF u doing!. that was my message lol

when CCL joined the con 10% 15% codes and the prices went up, i was gutted as once a year i look forward to the site wide deals thats when u get a proper deal... i bought a riotoro psu off them, it was under the 10% code, and said oi why has this item gone up it was XYZ the day before, wtf are u doing, thats just me, if i got a comment ill bloody say it man,
Edited by: "sarden84" 4th Mar
another one: the mini styker on ebay, has the RX590... on the site only the big styker has, not the mini, i posted a the mini and someone wanted to ask them which they asked me could i get a RX590.... "maybe if u call them" its worth a shot. they came back to them the RX590... doesnt fit inside the mini, i slated them and laugh..... thats a good joke as they advertise the mini bolt case which is the mini styker deal on ebay with the RX590...... so ive slated them on here, that is feedback,
Edited by: "sarden84" 4th Mar
above i mention about the ronin deal with the gaming plus then gaming X board.

that was XYZ................. came to a total of say £700.... had £700 parts or 695 or something, very close.

they added a new Motherboard!........ it was in the higher list of mbs, from my choosen url of the gaming X which were the cheapest one before and this new motherboard is usual + 12 extra.... cant think of the board name, guess what in the drop down it was -75 (which is the very cost of the gaming x board at the time) they forgot to add the price on the deal. so i posted it on a sunday even when they were closed,..... and also i inboxed all the ones which inbox me prev over the ronin deal, and 5 folks got a free motherboard as they jumped at it!.. and how many on here, i noticed it on the friday, i didnt post it to the sunday untill they were closed so they couldnt pull it that quick, thinking of members not them!

how i do things is my way, companys dont list to individual like me, but if i get a trend who repeat the same question they bloody well listen for them to add fans, they must of got sick n tired of people calling to add fans from my advice. and what ever else. i just like helping folks, thats my goal not the firms.
