Any chance this would be an AF model?

Any chance this would be an AF model?

Part no. Indicates it is not AF.
I am surprised that they still have AE stock.
The last time these were discounted it stated AE but some posters were saying they received the AF models. Guess it could be returned...
It is the AF you can check the q and a
Confirmed as AF model by CcL
CCL only sell the AF model now. Got this when it was £80, brilliant CPU, heat.
Yes, they state AE but you receive AF. They're not like Amazon who charge extra for the AF model. Received one of these last week for a build and just ordered one today again as I received notification for coming back into stock. Great processor for the price.
So tempted to get this.
Best bang for the buck by far right now.
Pair with one of those RX570 8G Nitro cards for £80 and you have a great 1080p system everything maxed out pretty much with 45-60 fps on triple A titles.
Even a 4k system for old games you may want to revisit or play for a first go on cheap steam deals.
The AE can oc to 3.9Ghz quite easily, so this AF model will oc to 4Ghz maybe even 4.1Ghz being based on 12nm.
Here we go again these are the af versions because that's what they make now and they also confirmed in the q & a

I'm well out of touch these days with PC's . My current system is a i7 6700 with a 1080ti.

How does this Ryzan CPU compare to my i7 6700 ? What's the equivalent Ryzan chip to my 6700?

Thanks

You still have a very good system to be honest. This CPU will have more cores than yours and therefore will probably perform better in multi-core tasks, but for now your CPU stands strong in games. Although they should be neck and neck realistically. In the coming years games might start using more cores and that’s where you could be better off with this AMD, but in all honesty, the expense required to make the switch just isn’t worth it at this stage I’d wait just a little longer for the next Ryzen release or even Intel if they manage to pull it out the bag.
or even keep your system for a while longer as it’s still very good.

A 6th gen i5 on the other hand I would have probably switched.

just my 2p
What's your opinion, should I had bought this (AF version) instead of the 2600x?

You're lucky. My last system literally fried, so for the last two years I've been using an i3 2120 system only helped out by a GTX970. I work from home and it's in use 12 hours a day!

I'm just buying bits now for a decent upgrade and getting a Ryzen 9 3900 / Tomahawk Max / 32GB RAM. Literally can't wait as the current one is on its last legs...

Depends on how much more you spent on it If you got it for £113 then in all honesty it was a good purchase. To some it probably is worth £24 more. especially if you plan on using the stock cooler as the 2600x has a better one. This 1600 AF could possibly reach the same speed with an overclock, but there are so many variables involved so ultimately £24 for peace of mind could very much be worth it.
How would this suit non gaming needs, i.e. office use - office suite programs. Many tabs browsing etc. Anything better suited than this in around the same price bracket?

As Cunning-Stunts mentioned above, this is definitely the best bang for buck CPU on the market today (not just for gaming).

Definitely a great choice.
This is an absolutely outstanding deal, I was going to post myself last night but didn’t bother as I know it has been £10 cheaper. But nothing comes close as the next cheapest is from an EU warehouse from Alza for over £100 with postage. And the next CPU to match this performance is over 25% more expensive.

I have purchased a 580 8gb I seen on this forum last month for £99 and combined it with a deal I just posted for a 1800mbs NVMe for £33 and I’m close to completing a 1600AF RX 580 8gb for £300ish with a decent storage speed and 600w psu.

If I told myself this was possible a few years ago I wouldn’t have believed it, that’s how much prices have went down!

decided to go for this for a new build as my old one has just died. Never used AMD before. Which motherboard are you using? I Was thinking of going for MSI B450M Mortar MAX but still looking for suggestions.

Any chance of a link? Sounds great
What's the excitement of getting the AF over the older model? Other than a newer manufacturing process?

For those that want something quicker than CCL - I had the AF version delivered from Amazon this morning for £90.99 - link

The AF version is basically a slightly downclocked Ryzen 2600, easily over clock able to match performance and max clocks are the same with both chips.

Could you confirm which seller you used on amazon to get the AF?
Hey guys I messaged the seller on amazon selling for £90 and it is confirmed to be the AF Version, do not hesitate to order from amazon.

The Ryzen is better but it's probably not worth the £160-£200 for this CPU and motherboard.

The good time to build a new PC will be when the Ryzen 4000 series is out, along with the Ampere Nvidia graphics cards (which should be end of summer to early Autumn) . Along with a high speed NMVe drive, that will likely future proof you for the next console generation.
Worth getting this or 2600 for £107?
Shows as £90.97 now. Expired?
Would this pair well with a 580 Nitro+ for a cheap upgrade? Thinking of those along with MSI B450M Mortar Max, 16gb RAM (not sure which) and WD SN550 500gb.

That would be absolutely perfect, I have the exact same but a slightly cheaper Nvme. I picked up some cheap 2400mhz ram on gumtree for £40 and overclocked it to 3000mhz with one click on the bios. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Would something like a ASRock B450M-HDTV be OK for a light OC on the proc and ram?

Is the 580 nitro+ much better than that card? I can see it for around £114 at the moment and not sure which is the best value for money. Thanks.

It's deffo not worth it IMO, I was debating going for the 580 when it was £99 and deffo wouldn't at £114. 570 8gb is what I would go for out of the sellers list.

They had a 480 8gb few weeks ago for £69, that was a brilliant offer

Not for the big price increase, you would get around 10% improvement, so not worth it.
Price is £95. This needs to be expired.
