Thanks was just about to buy this for 186.
Bought one myself at a slightly higher price. Heat added for the price, but there seems to be strange issues with the 3000 series on non x570 boards.
Chips not boosting correctly, strange temperature readings. Most beleive this is due to BIOS.

Are there any cheaper motherboards that are working correctly
Thanks for the savingXD . Was just about to order this from Amazon.

I still have faith these are excellent CPU's but bloody hell am I having issues getting my build to run properly. first off the power supply seemed to be the issue because it crashed randomly and always when I ran a benchmark. so I ordered a new power supply, and now my the GPU doesn't get powered at all. I've built my own PC for over 20 years and this is the most trouble I've had building a PC. So maybe the real issue is the motherboard.

So it might be a good idea to wait a couple of months so that AMD can iron out the BIOS issues before, unless you are prepared to potentially have to spend days troubleshooting.
Good price

Just out of interest are you one X570?

Nah. the X570 seems like overkill for a 3600, I have a MSI B450-A-Pro, as I could flash the BIOs without a older gen CPU.

Have to agree with this, coming from all Intel builds for 20 years to my current AMD 2600x rig has been somewhat of a pain to say the least! Took me literally months and months of tweaking and farting about in the BIOS to get it about 99% stable (which was new to me, damn PCs usually just work when I build them)

Nevermind though, it's a pain but a learning experience nontheless

I assume you've seen …I assume you've seen this?https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/chboon/msi_b450_update_not_good/

Yeah I've seen that, seems like just as many have success stories than failure, and nothing that helps me, I've tried three power supplies on the motherboard, first one sometimes works, but can reboots randomly and will crash when the GPU is stressed. Second one worked fine, but was a borrowed unit, and the third one doesn't boot at all. All of them work on with my current PC (a i5 4690)

I'm returning the motherboard tomorrow, and have a replacement on the way, if that fails, I might just return everything and wait for better BIOS support.
It's very good, but make sure you're motherboard is compatible.

If you're buying a new build, pair this with a b450 Mortar.

Are you sure the CPU is the issue?

I just built a 3600 PC, and it was the easiest build I've ever gone through by a fair mile. Incredibly smooth.
You likely have a motherboard which needs a flashed Bios, what makes you think this has anything to do with AMD?

There's Bios downloads on every mobo suppliers site. Pop them on a usb and flash the Bios. I used a b450m Mortar (MSI) with my 3600, flashed it before installing the cpu, and it all works perfectly.

For those buying the CPU, I think this guy is an outlier. Plenty of 3600s working great in PCs, and I haven't read a review which mentioned issues. This is the CPU to buy.
i have this paired with a Asus strix B450-F and its working perfect after updating to the latest bios. able to overclock to 4.2 on all cores at 1.325 volts
This CPU has the value sweet spot. 6 cores, 12 threads and lots of performance.
Whatever happened to Intel, it looks like Ryzen has taken over Hotukdeals for CPUs and in laptops

Has Intel stopped making competitively priced and good CPUs?

They're still good CPUs, it just that there's more value in AMD products, factoring in things such as core and thread count, also AM4 Motherboards being supported for 3 years so far.

AMD now have a competitive product and cheaper. Intel will come back as they always do. This is a similar situation before 2006 when AMD were thrashing Intel at their own game, then Intel released Core 2 Duo and as they say that was history. AMD now have a decent product with on par Instructions Per Clock (IPC) and much better multi threaded performance for the £$. Intel will just have to do a 'Core 2 Duo' all over again and then it's back to square one for AMD. We'll see when and if happens. Can't go wrong with AMD at the moment although the motherboard options are a bit vague and it's not quite plug and play simple.

Is this akin to intel generations?
It's getting to that time I need to rebuild my computer (built it in early 2009 with only minor upgrades as of late). Really need to up my lack of hardware knowledge as I've no idea what the best CPU manufacturer is or what model is good or not, along with other components... some long nights in store for me soon.

Have a look on PC Part Picker and you can get an idea of the costs involved, it also gives a run down of each part.
For people not wishing to flash the BIOS (tho it is simple enough) the MSI Tomahawk B450 Max works out of the box with the 3000 series processors. I myself have built 2 PCs with the MSI Mortar and 3600 when the chip was first released and both computers work flawlessly.
I just bough one yesterday at the price of 188 quid. Heat added.

Core2duo was reasonably priced back then... a lot of people are fed up of the past few years of being ripped off by intel and nvidia due to lack of competition.

The reason was because Intel was on the backfoot and wanted people to return to their platform, then when they had about 12 years of dominance they had no incentive to not milk the prices.

Good point, may be better value paying an extra £5-£10 elsewhere and getting the 3 Months Game Pass. Something for buyers to consider.

My experience is completely different... I used an old power supply and graphics card but new mobo, ram, cpu, and case.
I spent a bit of time putting it all together but it powered up first time... Getting Windows playing nicely was another story... Should have created a boot drive before taking the old pc apart!
what is the closest Intel cpu compared to this?
