Sabatier Knives @ ASDA - Santoku £3.60

Just popped into asda to grab a few bits and noticed the range of Sabatier knives were reduced. The Santoku and Chef knives were £12 reduced to £3.60 and I think the paring knife and utility knife were reduced from £9 down to £2.70. Others were reduced but not as much. Such as the carving knife down from £12 to £9.

These are not at all bad knives. As long as you rack them as soon as they are washed and use a decent chopping block you should get a good use before they need sharpening.

Grabbed one myself a couple of days ago in Horwich. Excellent knife. It was a bargain too.

Be careful that these are sabatier knives made in France and not PRC. My mum had a set of sabatier and they were amazing, so when I saw some on offer somewhere, I bought them and within weeks they were stained and rusty. I rang the customer support and in fairness they were very helpful but admitted they have two grades of knife. Basically, you get what you pay for. I did get a refund though so nothing to lose by trying them I suppose!

Lol for £3.60?! They won't be anywhere near high end for that money, but they'll be decent nonetheless - wash (by hand) and then dry as soon as you've used them and they'll never go rusty.

Sabatier is not a protected name - the original makers of those knives did not register the name and, as their knives were amazing, everyone started using their name. Do not take the name as guarantee of quality - especially at this price!

I think you meant to say they are made in PRC and not France

I also washed mine by hand and dried immediately, I was just pointing out that these are just average knives and probably not the French companies usual standard, so not the bargain you might first think.

I meant be careful to check that they are made in France not PRC, missed quite a crucial word! Oops

yes..seems like all.knives are sabiter...there not the original heavy type you used to get years ago...I prefer Victorinox fibrox ones..its what you get used to, and is comfortable for u

Grammar is comfortable to me.

Injured my pinky finger tendon badly with a chef's knife, it is now permanently in a curled up position, and can never be straightened.

My dad had the same thing happen to him 30 years ago.
