Heat I have these knives I paid over £100 for them about 5 years ago, they are fab

These are OK but do stain/rust if you clean in dishwasher

Isn't Sabatier like Polaroid and Cadburys these days? Licenced out to any company willing to pay for using the brand on their junk. I may be wrong, but I'm sure I discovered this some years ago. A quick google seems to confirm that Sabatier means nothing and anyone can use the word on their products.

+1 I've had Sabatier and they were awful.

i had Viners knives for years until they started going rusty. i bought these about a month ago and they are great, extremely sharp and robust, highly recommended

Had a set of Sabatier knives for over 16 years, Outstanding!!!

I've had these for 2 years. They're rusting now - never dishwashed. Wouldn't recommend.

Same here had sabatier all rusted and not sharp after a year bought rosler much better but expesnsive

Swear by these knives. Yes, dishwasher use stains them but they sharpen up no problem. Heat.

Cold for me due to the Sebatier name not actually meaning anything anymore.

On a related note though...

I have similar knives but as others have said they are becoming tarnished quite badly in the dishwasher.

Interestingly, our actual cutlery (knives, forks etc.) consists of 2 different sets - a cheaper one and a more expensive Denby one.

The cheaper cutlery is tarnishing in much the same way as the knives, but the Denby stuff is all absolutely fine despite being used just as much and getting washed in the dishwasher in the same way - so it must be something to do with the grade of stainless steel being used??

Anyway, next time I'm buying knives (or cutlery) my number one criteria will be can it be washed in the dishwasher without going orange!

To clear this up. ANY company can manufacture knives and use the word SABATIER to describe them. It is a non trademarked term and offers no guide with regard to quality. Testimonials to quality of any product bearing the word Sabatier are meaningless as the 'good set' could have easily been made by an entirely different manufacturer.
