Bait n switch was a storm in a teacup. It was 1 report. They’ve changed PCB layout but still using phison E12. Still fast. Still incredible value. Heat again.

U need a heatsink for this? Will use it for os and a bit of gaming mostly

No, will be fine
Tempted. Now I have to persuade the wife SHE really needs this for Christmas.

Great deal. Gutted. Just bought 1tb Intel 660p for £90. Worth sending back for this?

This is a better drive, if it's worth the effort is up to you.

Gotta send a package back to ebuyer (where I bought the 660p) anyway. So I got this deal instead
Recfomenda. Good enclosure ?
Same price on amazon
Amazing price
are these the ones with the controller bait n switch so now slow?
Back at the Black Friday price - got one then. Mildly annoying that we're already getting Black Friday prices on stuff again - at least if it was the Christmas sales we'd expect it. Good for everyone who missed out though.

I've had one of these for about a month now. It's so much faster than my Samsung Evo SATA SSD. Great price here!

Top drive. Got the 512 in the black Friday sale and my PC now boots in about one second after BIOS POST to Windows. Wouldn't have believed it I'd I hadn't seen it.
Tempted. Now I have to persuade the wife SHE really needs this for Christmas.
I find NVME drives kick out some serious heat. Would this be ok as an additional drive next to an existing Samsung SM961 NVME boot drive which already runs hot? I have very good air flow across the motherboard but still..................
I'd be very grateful for some advice from the clearly very knowledgeable folk here.

I want to clone an existing boot drive to one of these. I understand from other threads that the sector size of the drive needs to be changed to 512 bytes to ensure it is fully compatible with most other drives before the cloning process takes place.

Forgive the newbie questions:-
1. what is the best method & software for changing the boot sector of one of these Sabrent drives - Sabrent's own or something else?
2. what's the most reliable (and foolproof!) method & software to use to clone a boot drive?

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

ditto to the above, I'd like to change my 128gb sata ssd to the 1tb nvme ssd in this deal. what is the easiest way to do that?

no 1 review posted this information, there are numerous threads on reddit discussing this and it is JUST that they changed the design of the PCB, there is NO performance difference.
i bought the 512gb version £60 down to £38 using 25% off voucher on the site and also £6 off if you top up £80

bought other xmas gifts with the rest.

really good deal imo speed is what it says it is after a few tests

Software I used to clone my hard drive was Macrium reflect. It's easy to use and free. They have a good tutorial video on YouTube, It'll show you everything you need to know.

I decided to take the risk the first time this was offered, also hearing about this so called bait and switch... I was delighted to find that my module came with the desired speeds.
Re the above query on heat (and I see the units are offered with heatsinks too). Has anyone used one of these drives in a laptop at all? I'm tempted (happy to wait - these are blatantly coming down more in the new year), but would be good to get some anecdotal feedback on use in laptops.
On Amazon 25% off on Sabrent nVME drives

Macrium reflect has a free home version and will cope with this situation ( alsomlarger drive to smaller)

No bait and switch et all with any drive whatsoever. It was just the company that provided the controller Phison that changed their PCB layout and that got someone excited.

Its still the exact same fast as was before and beats or matches most higher priced drives as well. This 1TB is ridiculously fast.

HOT.

All sabrent drives now come with the standard 512 bytes standard so nothing needs to be done regarding that.
For being double sure, there is a utility that you can download and then run which tells you what is the sector size and if its already 512 then you are good to go, else flick the switch on the software and the drive will change to 512. As simple as that.

For the cloning, i left the boot drive in and fitted my NVME drive and did a clone using Macrium Reflect using the guide on their website. Loads of videos and guides available and it was seamless.

Acronis also have thei software available on the Sabrent website so you could use that if you like.

Hope that helps.

Thinking about buying one but the words reliability and longevity keep coming to mind are there any reviews / links for Nvme drives other than Amazon.
