Bought one last week. Want to love it but the usb-A cable supplied to connect it to a pc is too short and it seems to intermittently reset when copying files to drives and sd cards.

Is it fixed or can you swap it for another one? If it can be swapped, a USB 3.0 cable on eBay is probably £3-£4. Here is a 2m one for £2.89. 14 x 5* reviews for it from a seller with a lot of feedback. Bargain and it is in blue.

It’s swappable. Got a 6ft belkin replacement from amazon for £3.

Any issues occuring ith the device when using the Belkin USB cable? Hopefully all sorted with that replacement cable. Perhaps they got a dud batch of cables which they bundled with a batch of hubs? Using a longer cable is more useful. In some ways they should sell it without a USB cable but state it doesn't come with one and reduce the price a little. I reckon a lot of people will change the cable and not use the short one.
Still testing it with the new cable. It randomly disconnected a couple of times but I can’t remember if it was with the original cable or the new one. Copied 16gb from an ssd drive using it earlier today and it worked fine.

I can't comment on them because my ordered one is getting delivered next week to a locker.
I have had this for maybe a year or so, changed the cable as it is short. I haven't had any disconnect issues.
I have a similar Sabrent 10-port model but it's a charger only and it works great. I wouldn't bother with this unless you want the hub functionality too and even then I wouldn't want to be sharing the hub with charging lots of devices - the problems seem to arise from power consumption fluctuations.
Need something like this (with around 4-6 USB ports) to use in the car in order to charge the family's gadgets on the go.

Something with detachable 12v power supply so that itcan be hard-wired into vehicle or piggy-backed into the fusebox.

No requirement for the hub feature as only need it for charging.

Ideas anyone?

For 6 ports

4 ports

Not used them and don't know how reliable they are. Worth you doing a bit of research on them prior to purchasing. Probably other similar car USB chargers for sale too.

Edit: Oops just read your comment again and you want to hardwire it in. Could you use the cigarette lighter with an adapter ( 2 to 1/3 to 1) if you are already using it for something else?

Thanks for that.

I do actually have a dual USB adapter plugged in ATM, but as it is on show in the centre console, it looks fugly.

I need something quite narrow so it can be tucked away inside the console's retractable cover, but with detachable barrel-type power supply (that can be hacked into being hardwired).

Just wondered if anyone had found something.

I'll just have to keep looking.
This would have been OK, but the ports are in the wrong place for me personally:

You're welcome.

Could the 6 port one fit somewhere which is out of the way but accessible? I know it is from Hong Kong but there may be similar devices in the UK or even UK sellers of that one.

Another work around could be something similar to this then use a converter and fit a standard home use USB hub perhaps?

Want to get away from using the 12v power point in the centre console.
I've seen a few that are "Nearly Right", so my guess is that there will be something "Just Right".

The problem is that most of the ones I've seen have several ports, but not all are "Charging Ports". I want one the only charges.

The first one you mentioned seems to fit the bill, so may check that out further if I don't find exactly what I want.

The thing is I do have one by Anker, but the cable is integrated with 12v plug, but way too short for where I want to hard-wire it.

Found this, which looks promising:

Good luck with your hunt for a device which fits the bill well. Perhaps AliExpress is a more suited marketplace and may have what you need.

Funny you should mention "AE", as that's where I found the "Livsun LS-5US"I mentioned earlier.

Anyway, ordered @ $16 .31(+ conversion), which is approx £13.30 (before conversion fees).

Should've used my "Clarity Card", but too lazy to look for it. LOL

I though you'd already knew to have a look on AE. Just in case you weren't aware of it I mentioned it. Must still be some members/website users not aware of looking on it. Likewise for Gearbest and the others I suppose.

The LVSUN looks slender, as in no excessive outer casing. Good luck with it
