"Locksman" Brand, Model CS-1, key. Fireproof, Can be bolted to wall or floor.

Couldn't find it on-line, so maybe in-store only ( Shrewsbury had several) and before you all chime in with "A real crim would have it", I think the real purpose of these is the "Fire-proof" aspect. And to deter casual thieves.

Introducing the Locksman CS-1 key locking safe. This is a very cost effective safe which is compact in size and can be bolt to the floor for addition security.

* Locksman CS-1
* 6 lever key locking
* 2 live-locking bolts
* Carpeted floor
* Bolt-down kit included
* Dark Grey color

When it says fireproof does it give any specs as to the kind of temperatures it can withstand before goods (I guess paper) inside is damaged?

Sorry, I didn't check all the specs while in store. Try google.

Paper burns at 451 Fahrenheit.

No one else who sells this seems to claim it's fireproof/resistant?

If you can bolt it to the floor does that mean there is a hole on the safe?? If so it cant be fire proof or resistant can it?

If it keeps the wife from the plastic its a bargain at full price... but like you say... wouldn't keep out the most determined crim.. :roll:

Or it could have feet on the bottom, or some sort of bracket sticking out the back/sides, or... :roll:

Oh Wikipedia, then it must be right!

Actually, there are many different types of paper, which ignite at many different temperatures. For e.g. glossy magazines have a very high clay content and may therefore have a higher ignition point.

And yes, I was a fireman!

:-DBut other than that this deal looks like a safe bet!:-D

Best thing to do with this is load it up with bricks. If you do get your home broken into the thief won't be able to resist taking the safe (and leaving other things). It will take him ages to open it only to find nothing inside it!

A company I worked for had a break-in, the scumbags dragged a safe up the road, leaving a trail that the police were able to follow and arrest them. The best part was when they were told the safe had been replaced by a built in safe and now contained only tea coffee and biscuits and was locked to stop the biscuits getting nicked!

I don't think that it really is fireproof. This site also sells the safe ]http//ww….uk - they don't advertise it as fireproof. the fireproof safes they sell cost over £100 or more if you want it to last for 2 hours in a fire rather than 1 hour.

its a steal at that price (geddit?!?!)

It was a reference to the Book Fahrenheit 451. Inside the front cover it says "the temperature at which paper ignites" it was meant metaphorically, and as a joke. ;-)

I know mate, that's why I asked if you are a fireman! :oops:

I read it last year, good book but I thought it went a bit weird at the end - seemed rushed.

the average burglar is in yr house for around 3 mins... a well bolted down one of these would take more than 3 mins to remove unless you comne equipped with a wrecking bar... anything that makes things harder to steal is a good idea in my book esp. with crime going thru the roof due to the credit / benefit crunch

Right, sorry..........sometimes I take things too lterally.........I've read it about 3 times in 20 years........
I agree with your synopsis of the ending though.

Try reading "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K Dick.....it was made into the movie, "Blade Runner".

Cheers.
