I used to buy Schwartz for my dried herbs and spices, then I tried the supermarkets own. Asda do theirs for about 60p and you can’t tell the difference.
Same as Tesco a little while ago however they were a price error so this is very cheap!

Where are you seeing Asda own brand saffron for 60p? It’s listed at £2.49.

Some would say that it has its own particular taste. But I must admit that with my layman's taste buds I couldn't tell in the past. It's other main use is to colour (yellow/orange), eg in a Paella. However I normally use tumeric and no one's complained yet!
It’s such a rip off over here. I bulk buy when ever I go to Spain. It’s even cheaper on amazon too if you can find a good deal

I was speaking generally. Obviously saffron is more expensive everywhere.

I can. Its quite strong and has an unusual flavour and when iv over done it in the past it has really over powered the dish.
