It's great tasting coffee that is no hassle... but a little bit more expensive, though not too much more compared to good tasting Beans. The other advantage is you don't have to fuss over the machine, my £600 Coffee Machine requires so much busy work to maintain it, and the thing wants to constantly clean :/ The other thing that annoys me is Milk, any of them with an in built system always suck and require so much cleaning. Even if they have just a hose coming out, they want to clean after every cup. The Aeroccino is honestly the only quick and easy way to make good frothy milk with little effort. Though I switched to Vertuo now as I want big cups, which no machine offers..... but it does taste more acidic which is sad.

I am surprised you have settled for Nespresso. Nespresso for me is an upgrade from instant coffee and no match for an espresso from freshly ground beans, even an average espresso machine with pre ground beans tastes better than a Nespresso in my opinion but each to their own.
Although a decent grinder this isnt a great deal for the silver model, this is pretty much the usual price and can be had from JL, curry’s or Amazon. At xmas and black Friday these were widely reduced to £130. If you don’t need it right now hold out for a better price.

That's a really good grinder, I'm using one at the moment. Heat

When a mortar and pestle won't do. 😏
Paid £159 for this in John Lewis, so not going to vote hot as this can be had cheaper.

@aliturner1303 Was it definitely the smart grinder? They do another that looks similar

has been much cheaper previously - I picked mine up before christmas for 130 from costco
Sage do this grinder and the dose control. Make sure your prices are for the Smart!
Yes the £130 is the smart grinder I have one and use it daily along with a dual boiler ;-)

Indeed - bought my one from Currys 23rd December for £139 And was annoyed it had gone up by a tenner - just checked an it’s the same model ( BCG820BSSUK )
I grind....and so does my wife

A great grinder but an average price for it. I got the same model from Amazon last July for £120.

Ok, that price isn't available now but I'd bet it'll drop below this price soon enough.

I agree with this mostly. I still do enjoy using my proper grinder, machine and coffee, but I hardly use it anymore because of my Nespresso. I have a massive selection of decent coffee that's quick and easy to make, and better for the environment.

Having said that, this is a good grinder, but I've seen it cheaper often.
Good grinder, I use it for V60, Aeropress and Moccamaster grind levels.

If you need a coarser grind (for french press for example), this grinder might not be ideal. Even with extra burr alignment, it doesn’t really go that coarse. It also loses much grind consistency at the coarse end too.

Picked one of these up from Amazon for 100 quid a few years ago along with the temp pro duo and it's been used daily multiple times and holding up great.
Paid £99 during one of Amazon offers, amazing piece of kit

Yes i do agree the pod machines are a bit of a gimmick - nice to have one for emergencies i got mine for a tenner off ebay local but nothing can beat a proper ground coffee and a Bialetti or drip system!

Besides those pods go straight to landfill not even recyclable - got to think of the environment now eh!

Yeah we don't want to know tbh.

We have this machine - excellent piece of kit
Average price. But a good entry level grinder.

If you can afford it or wait and save up a bit more get something like a Eureka Mignon or similar - a much better grinder for espresso, more durable, and most importantly will hold a good chunk of its value for when you decide to upgrade!

The aluminium ones are 100% and infinitely recyclable. The energy consumption of a pod machine is a fraction of my grinder, kettle, Bialetti (I have 3), or espresso machine.

I got an attachment for my Kenwood mixer to do that. The Food Mincer attachment. If you have a Kenwood mixer or Kitchenaid you can get attachments. Or you can get a standalone mincer/grinder.

Are they hmm all of mine are plastic and black or brown plastic unless its a milk pod then its white but i believe none of them are recycleable in reality as anything that is not clear plastic just gets binned!

Are you talking the metal re-useable pods that leak all over the place and dont have the correct pressure to meet the required standard?

Dolce Gusto not Nespresso i went for the cheap and cheerful not a fan of Clooney and his posey Nespresso!

All Nespresso capsules are made of aluminium, some compatibles are too. I didn't like the Nespresso image either, but I wasn't a fan of how laborious making a cup of coffee was for just me using other methods. Except instant coffee, which is just coffee flavoured water at the best of times. Those reusable mini pods are not as good as the instagram adverts suggest they are, also you are stuck with the same coffee until you've used it all up.

Ahh i thought that was what you meant so its Nespresso that are doing the right thing kinda mitigates that slimey fudd Clooney and those terrible ads a bit!

Yeah the reuseable pods i bought one it leaks all over the place and i have a large 20 kilo bag of Jamaican Blue mountain to go as well as 20 other pots full of different blends so not a problem for me using anything up haha

I dunno i kinda like the coffee ritual and the time taken to make a really good cup nothing like pumping away on yer steel milk frother and a good grind!

100%! At the weekend when I'm making coffee for my partner, and have the time, I love firing up my machines. First thing in the morning, I couldn't think of a worse way to make coffee!
