I know that this is a lot of money for an ice-cream maker but its a great saving based on the fact that the nearest competitors have it for £278. and the previous lowest price it was on Amazon was £240 ish.

This is for Prime Members only and is currently OOS but I have ordered it anyways.

Kidding. I love Amazon too, but thought it worth pointing out that Currys had stocks (with available cashback) for those that aren't Amazon Prime members.

Amazing price....if only i needed an ice cream maker....

Off post a little here but does anyone have experience of budget ice cream makers? Andrew James or Aicok which are about £27 on Amazon. My daughter can't have dairy so I am looking for something that can make her sorbet and non-diary ice cream. I know that they won't be as good as this for many reasons but a 6yr old girl with a scope of ice cream will be happy.

Although I like the idea of having one I would need to use this around 60 times to get by money back over my regular tub. This would go in the cupboard with the breadmaker which I use 3 or 4 times a year. Its a nice deal in principle but not for me. Heat added.

Submitted a price match request to JL, here’s hoping doesn’t expire before they are back in touch!

I've owned a few of the cheaper ice cream makers where you have to freeze the bowl in advance, and they generally work very well - essentially they only need to move the mixture around as it freezes to stop crystallisation. The variance between the machines I have owned is the robustness of the mixing paddle mechanism, and how close the paddle gets to the sides/bottom of the bowl (reducing the amount that is frozen to the sides).

As I understand it, the main advantage of these more expensive machines is that they include a compressor so require no pre-freezing. £100+ for the convenience of being able to make ice cream on a whim seems like a steep price to pay, but I have to admit that I am sorely tempted at this price!

Of all the kitchen gadgets that end up and the back of peoples cupboards ice cream makers are number 1 !

The most useful are the coffee machines which tend to get used every day, stick blenders, food processors, Mixing machines.

Before you buy this I would suggest you need to know you are definitely going to be using it at least once a week, and have a large empty cupboard for it too !

Slow down - you're overworking that bread maker. Once it goes into the cupboard it's not supposed to come out again!

Ho Ho Ho; Amazon is completely confused by my shopping habits, as I buy stuff for a number of elderly friends and relatives who dont feel they are ready for the world of etailer's or are scared to give their credit card details online.

I usually browse without logging in, and only log in when I find something I want to buy; I also block their tacking cookies, and all the google services that follow you around in cyberspace.

No big deal but title says ice maker!

Back up to £278.00 @ Currys now and £265 @ Amazon and still out of stock. I ordered one to give me time to think it through.
