These are great machines (I have this model) & they can make exceptional coffee. However, I’m not sure that I’d buy a used item from this seller; manufacturer refurbished from them maybe, but these tend to be a bit more expensive. I think item this could end up looking like it had been literally thrown from the back of a lorry!
Hoe easy is it to get the learning curve of tamping done and extraction time on this
It’s actually pretty straightforward; you can use the default settings for grind, extraction etc & get a decent cuppa but I’ve enjoyed playing around using my own settings. The grind depends very much on your beans - type, freshness etc. The tamping is okay but messy, the portafilter is a bit smaller than my Gaggia classic resulting in some spillage. A nice feature is that you can pause grinding in order to give the basket a tap & even everything out - or you can just grind in 2 stages of course. It’s very much a semi-automatic machine & much more fun than an automatic bean to cup, although if there are lots of coffee drinkers in your household a fully auto bean to cup machine is more practical. This Sage certainly makes the best espresso that I’ve produced. Better than my old Gaggia Classic, Delonghi or Saeco! I just wouldn’t buy this one from this seller... Thanks for the deal OP. Shame the manufacturer refurbished one isn’t this price...

I gave in and used the pressurised basket so it does it all naturally and the pouring time is fine just adjust to the preferred size of cup
Every time you change to a different brand of bean, expect to fiddle with the grind fine setting and how much you tamp... that said, they're brilliant. Like above said, they're Semi-Automatic bean to cup machines.

I 100% recommend a Sage machine!
Costco not got this for 450 new??

For everyone else, challenging but achievable. For you...
Not bean to cup. Grinder and espresso machine in one, but not bean to cup.

I've had this machine since it was released. Best thing I ever bought.

Wouldn't buy from this seller though. Their images always look like machines are risks with bullet holes.
