Freeview .. HDMI Connection ?

We bought our son the £44 (delivered) Digifusion 100 from microdirect. OK, refurbished (with 12 months warranty) but he gets a freeview box, 40gb hd and twin tuner (i.e. record 2 channels at the same time) capability. he's made up with it. Not a whole lot more wonga.

but you can't use Setanta on it (no viewing card slot)

Ahh, OK, point taken (in our case, thank God, it's £10/mth, lol)

That's what Dbox's are for :whistling:

There are reports elsewhere of this Sagem having a not very sensitive tuner, so bear this in mind if you are in a weak signal area.;-)

Yep.....new Freeview boxes come with HDMI to 'upscale' the picture to 1080i.

TBH your better off letting your TV do the upscaling, plus a freeview stream is'nt the greatest to start off with

Although to be fair a few posters who bought a Goodman's Updcaling freeview box said they noticed a big difference in PQ, although a few other posters said the opposite, probably down to your TV at the end of the day

That is exactly what thought.

I cannot see any value in a Freeview Box having a HDMI connection.

it's basically an old German version of an ITV digital box, which has Linux on it which allows you to view cable channels for educational purposes only, my mate has one :whistling:

You have to have cable to use them

they cost between £100-£125 on ebay, search for DBOX or DBOX2

thats exactly what i have been looking for (to aid my studies of course)

Our cable has not been working 100% recently though (tv) and so i dont know if it is the best choice.

I am sure they can be found cheaper than they are on ebay? Anyone else got one of these?

you would be better off getting a black pearl . it has a pvr option and is much more stable than the other boxes and a LOT LESS fooking around:whistling:

Picked one of these up in-store today for £40, very pleased with that, so much thanks to the OP, gonna add some heat & rep, cheers!
