So why is Amazon showing £23.99?

Surprised the supermarkets sell any alcohol after xmas and new yr. everyone so sick of feeling hungover and with many swearing abstinence for at least a few weeks, who is left? Probably why we are seeing a deal like this.

I used to love this, but they ruined it when they changed the recipe a few years ago.

For all those who lament the passing of the original Sailor Jerry when they changed the recipe circa 2010, have you tried Old J Spiced Rum?

For those who haven't or who are not aware of it, Old J was unashamedly created about 3 years ago to fill the void the original Sailor Jerry left and was developed by one of the team involved with the Original Sailor Jerry.

Old J Spiced Rum

Prefer Havana Club but that's rarely on offer

Heat added for this though as a tenner seems like a good deal

Like ma self a used to like Sailor Jerry with a little dash of coke and a wee slice of lime, like a snob as wis
a wee change fae the buckie and irn bru , until they changed the recipe about 5 plus years ago, crazy!!!
Well all is not lost try Asda's own Caribbean spiced rum (made in Holland) and at 12 quid a btl, a little dearer tho, but it taste just like the old Sailor Jerry folks with the vanilla taste, honest, a Scotsman knows his taste buds inside oot, u will not be disappointed muckers:{

Sounds good will nd to be sniffing aboot this find, HOT if proved8)

Of all the spiced rums I've tried (cpt morgans, oakheart, lambs, kraken), this stuff is the nastiest.

In fact it's the only nasty one amongst them, I love the rest.

I second this. Old J is delicious, and definitely has the old taste of the original Sailor Jerry recipe.

I agree with you on this. I think this brand needs a mixer (eg diet coke) with it to lesson the taste.

bought one to celebrate dumping my gf heat

They now do a "Gold" version, which at 40% is the strength of the original SJ as well, not had a chance to try it yet though...

Its only 35%, so technically it's not classed as being rum!! I'll stick with Captain Morgans Black or Kraken.

This isn't any special price for rum. I guess it's a good deal if you like the brand but personally I've never even heard of it

So help me out here with a few examples of offers on rum that you think are superior or at least marginally better?

From what I know, even supermarket own brand spirits at 40% ABV and aimed at the Jakie market retail at £11 for 70cl?

I don't think anyone would suggest that SJ or any of the other rums mentioned are anything other than general run of the mill everyday mixing and slooshing rums. For aged sipping rums you really are going to have to pay somewhat more.
