Rum is my drink and there are only 2 that do it for me

1. Havana Club Especial
2. Sailor Jerry
Add a few drops of decent quality vanilla essence (that from a health food shop, not a supermarket for example) to a Sailor & Coke to get back the original Sailor Jerry taste from back in the day.
Old J is very nice and apparently similar to the old SJ recipe I am told.
Used to always be about this but the price went mad about 2 years ago (straight after Christmas) for some reason. Guess it must've got a bit of press somewhere. Hot for me.

old j ?

It was on offer in my local spirit shop so tried it. Very sweet but really nice, lot of vanilla in there. People have said it's the closest thing to the old SJ recipe but I never tried that so can't say for sure. Around the £20 mark I think normally. Sits alongside SJ and The Kraken pretty well I think, all nice but all different.
Why did they have to ruin this? Used to be one of my favourite drinks
I got Old J for my birthday. Is pretty much identical to the old sailor jerry recipe.
Old sj was nice. The new recipe has made it taste like every other bland rum on the shelfs.
I bought this today from Sainsburys came in a tube and with a free poster too for £13 a great pressie

Tesco have this one for £13 but £15 for the tube and "limited edition print" so that makes this deal even better I guess.

I've never tried the old one so can't compare but I totally disagree that the current recipe is bland. All opinions though.
must admit ive not tried the new one but the old one was good though
agree new sj is not the same taste as the old one. If you liked the old one Asda do a cracking one just like the old sj for £13 its Asda own make called Caribbean spiced
