    Is there any way of cutting these down that people use and recommend?

    I'm the only household meat eater, and would love 4 portions from a leg for example.

    Was thinking of freezing and then using a recip saw, then thawing before the slow cooker - but wondered if that's a bit Dexter...

    Cook the leg(s) whole, then carve off the cooked meat + put into freezer containers at portion sizes you like.

    Pour the cooking juices in to each container, covering the meat, to prevent freezer-burn and keep the meat succulent.

    Then put them in the freezer - keeps for many months. You then simply defrost portions overnight in the fridge as requred.

    I tend to discard the leg bone, but you could freeze it to later boil as stock for soup.

    My friend NZ only produces stunned Halal meat(if you consider this Halal). All the Abbatoirs are catered to produce for the Middle Eastern and Far East market. It's easier for them to produce in one method rather than to segregate for standard meat. Trust me I work in this industry.

    do you know when this offer is on till? I can see the veg discounts have a offer date, but nothing for the meat. and as they've specifically mentioned the veg dates not sure if it will include meat in those dates

    As it says Easter offer I’m guessing till Easter Monday so for two weeks. Will update the expiry date if I see anything from comments here suggesting the exact date.

    100% I am with you, but not Halal unfortunately. This is the huge market they must open up too as usual halal butchers are charging £14 a kilo for the meat. (edited)

    Anybody knows what price is Aldi doing please? I had a big lump of pork on promotion for Christmas from Sainsburys. Lordy, it was tough and older than me! Chicken was OK, but pork I won't buy from them again, price match or not. Sainsburys: get your act together and quality controls is a must. I'd like to support our own supermarkets, but increasingly, the quality is NOT there. Mange Tout, grapes from Aldi are far superior in flavour!
