erm...Summer strawberries? Last time I looked it was only Spring...

Bloody foreign strawberries coming over 'ere nicking all our jobs!!! Gimmee t'proper strawberries from t'proper fields tha knows lad, much better than t'foreign muck

By the way, if "we know exactly the right time to pick their fruit, so you can enjoy the most luscious, succulent and tasty British summer strawberries" did a British person pick it from abroad or did a foreign person pick it from a British field?!?!??! :?

tesco doing 2x 400g packs for 3 quid, not sure what coutry of origin i think spain but they are tasty

These will be British strawberries that have been forced under poly tunnels, and picked by some foreign migrant no doubt
The nice tasting ones which you can PYO are not in season till July.

Its just another case of profit before anything else..tasteless rubbish

Voted hot as they've not been flown in from Israel,Spain or Morocco.:)

But that is not until late June at the earliest in the UK.

Here in Spain the delicious Spanish strawberries were 1.25 Euros a Kilo on Friday (£1.08)
Apart from Booze at last something cheaper here, so a glass of bubbly with strawberries dipped in them is a bargain. (But no clotted cream available)

most artificial strawberries ever!!

Although I admire this mentality (we'd still have manufacturing industry if we'd all thought like this when we bought a car, etc.) the last piece of research I read on this showed that it took more energy to grow strawberries out of season in the UK than to fly them from Spain or North Africa.

I'm guessing the variety is El Santa whose only virtue is that they're hard so can be flung around without suffering any damage and arrive at the supermarket LOOKING good. Shame they taste of turnip.

the spanish/moroccan strawberries currently have more taste than these, they're alright if you don't mind them being bland as water.

bought some yesterday they were really nice, finished the rest for breakfast- so much nicer then those that have been flown in, now looking forward to going strawberry picking- roll on summer

Well, there are few other varieties around that I have wasted money on too, some of which even LOOK better (Elsanta are virtually white inside anyway!), but they are crap one and all :-(

The saddest thing is, the under say 35's have never had the varieties that taste good, so they don't even know what we are talking about!

Grow your own? Well, even the majority of varieties you can get from commercial nurseries are the self same lousy varieties :-(

Same offer in Morrisons however they were the tasteless Elsanta variety

Irrelevant in situations where waste heat is used for the growing.
