Very good price for a 50in 4k TV. However I currently own an Hitachi and wouldn't touch another one. TV and sound bar has been nothing but trouble.

I know a lot of them are made in the same place and just have a different badge stuck on. Had a Sony 8years still going strong.

Just to balance the comments, I had an Hitachi 40" for 3 years and pic and sound were great, recently swapped it out for a 50" Panasonic and I am very disappointed with the picture quality, possibly one of the Panasonics with cheap screen I have been told....

Unless you buy one of a "name brands" higher range models they are pretty much all made by Vestel nowadays

Not exactly. Every Sony (even the bottom ones) and LG and Samsung is made in-house. It's only really the historic brands the don't exist anymore (JVC, Toshiba, Hitachi etc) and supermarket/Argos/store brands (Bush, Alba, Hitachi, Techwood etc) that are Vestel clones.

It's easy to tell if it's a Vestel. They always have an opening on the back for the UK mains plug to fit when they are in transit and they have a picture settings menu that looks like a different skinned version of this.

Vestel isn't all THAT bad for a budget model anyways, much better than UMC!

Hitachi by Sainsbury's courtesy of Vestel. I know where I would be keeping my £330. I wonder how much heat this deal would generate if the logo was actually Sainsbury's on the front of this TV, which less face it would be a tad more honest.

Yeah that's fair enough. Can't always be judged off one case. By googling the model number seems the one I bought was particularly troublesome

Actually it's an Argos tv.

Actually it's an Argos tv.

With Argos now being a subsidiary of Sainsbury's I think the point is valid. The real point is that this is all about misleading uninformed consumers.

Had a Sony Bravia, here too, 10 years and still going strong, not even an LED backlit tv, it has CCFL's in it and is miraculously still running even though the thing is switched on for most of the day every day. A ridiculously well built tv. In my experience, you can never go wrong with Sony.

Found this in Newbury Sainsbury's and bought it. Very happy with it so far
