Try at least an intelligent comment it has DAB read! mono speaker on a portable radio is fine you going to notice the stereo effect doubt it unless you plug in your ear phones.

I thought it was an intelligent comment. You misunderstood.

DAB and DAB+ aren't the same. This doesn't support DAB+.

He/she was stating this doesn't support DAB+ only DAB.

Help, what's DAB+ ?

If you buy a DAB radio you must find one that has DAB+ or else ur device will become useless very soon.

From the interweb thingy......
The United Kingdom Government had previously ruled out any transition from DAB to DAB+ for the foreseeable future, a decision backed by the radio industry and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.[33] The chief executive of the DRDB, Tony Moretta, mirrored the calls by the radio industry and experts to not adopt DAB+ in the UK.

It is crazy that things aren't going to DAB+. Going to a technology (DAB) that gives significantly inferior sound compared to FM is never going to lead to mass adoption....

I thought most dab stations were broadcast in mono because of a lack of bandwith (or something like that). If true then one speaker should be fine.

Good buy for £20, I'm needing one to replace my old Roberts which is starting to suffer from knocks and bumps.

DAB+ not a problem, not interested in the handful of stations that use it and there is not likely to be a sudden switchover in the UK any time soon.

DAB sound quality not a problem either, this is a 10cm cardboard or plastic cone speaker, sound quality is not even on the table.

HEAT ADDED.

Surely this one posted a while back is far superior.

My negative is that the product descriptions on the Sainsbury website says nothing about the specs at all. Maybe it does have DAB+ like all DAB sets are supposed to nowadays?

"I'm needing one to ......"
WTF is that supposed to mean?
Did you mean to say "I need one to ...."?
Yes, I thought so!!

I have one and it does the job for me. I have it sat outside the bathroom/bedroom so I can get ready whilst I listen to the news.

You might want to wait until the nectar double event if you have points to use. Double up £10 worth of nectar points to £20 to buy this radio.

WTF is with the inconsistent use of ellipsis dot numbers? Did you mean to use three dots each time? Yes, I thought so!!

You dont need stereo on a small radio like that! Do you understand how stereo works?

not true... google the latest info - DAB will be around longer than this radio.

with small DAB radios the major issue is battery life. not sure how this one fairs.

people you'd do better to spend £20 on a blue tooth speaker then stream what ever you want to listen to it from the laptop/ tablet that you used to send the above comments from.

No. I meant to use five, but accidentally used six on the first occasion so balanced it out by only using for in the second instance.
I hope that reason keeps you happy.

* “four”

No, I’m afraid that’s not good enough. If the accident was actually spotted on the first occasion, why not seek to correct it instead of trying to balance it out? Why look to use five or “for” (four) dots when the accepted practice is three?

There’s an expectation that your posts will be entirely correct given you’re so willing to aggressively call out someone else’s grammar. Perhaps it’s best for you to focus on the deal instead?

Most reduced ones like this one, do not support DAB+ . They are reduced to make way for new model which may have DAB +

That is if you get perfect FM signal and reception. I get much better signal and clarity with DAB + than FM . Also in digital , either the signal works with full quality or does not work , where with Analog like FM it can come with lots of noise at the receiving end, so digital is far superior . It's saves bandwidth as well so more stations can fit in narrow amount of radio frequency.

I wasn't debating analogue/digital advantages, but stating my thought that the UK should go to DAB+ rather than staying on low quality DAB.

To think that Swizerland transitioned from DAB to DAB+ in 2013 and by all accounts digital radio is a big success there now.

<sigh> what IS it with the UK always thinking small? Is it only small countries that can think big these days?
