The exact same item is on sale on Amazon right now at £5, the link is at the end of this post.
if you want to get a close look at the item there are lots of good pics - note that the description of ampage on the amazon site is incorrect and stated at 100ma, when in fact it is 1000ma:

Works with Kindle, Kobo, iPhone, iPad, galaxy etc using their usb cables - I've tried them all, yes we have one of each of these at home.

Cheapest USB charger anywhere that you can trust, being Masterplug quality, backed up by Sainsburys.

A great quality product, excellent build quality. Sleek low profile design. Absolute bargain. Was 3.99, 2.99, 1.00... now only 50p Stock up!

I bought 6!!

(Amazon link to same product in different packing, Note: their description states 100mA, which is incorrect, the Sainsburys packaging and the device housing both state 1000mA.)

What aisle are these located at?
Last time I went couldn't find any in pharmacy, next to travel adaptors.
there with the lightbulbs
so i take it that this would charge a phone faster than using a usb and its default usb adaptor in most cases?
Depends on the phone, but certainly for a smaller phone I'd expect it to charge faster.
Also should charge faster than a standard computer USB socket.

Clearly that one mention was £1. this is now 50p so worthy of a repost
Great spot
Just got 3 from cheshire oaks. thanks OP
Yep got 2 at sainsburys northfield yesterday at 50 pence each, plenty on shelf marked at 3.99 still!
Just bought a couple in Worle at 50p. Quite hidden and no shelf ticket. At the bottom of light bulbs shelf. Thanks! Top spot.
Does anyone know if these fast charge on newer Samsung phones. They need the data part of the USB to be shorted so the phone knows it is a wall plug, otherwise it limits to 700mamp like a computer USB port.

Hmm, couldn't find it at the time. But this is 50p.

I have a Galaxy S3, and it charges faster than USB on the PC. In fact the Samsung socket charger is precisely the same, 1A without the data connections.

You can find them in the aisle with the bulbs, but also near the phones and TVs. That's where I picked up 5 of my 6.
link doesn't work anymore.
Is there an item I can quote to them if I ring up?

Thank you.

The packing just says "Usb Charger", look at the picture on the post. If anyone can do, post the code from the ticket on the shelf?
I just got the las 3 from my local. Exactly where you said.. By the bulbs. Mine we priced at £1 but went through at 50p. Cheers
BARGAIN!
Had a bunch in Bristol (Filton), cheers!

Also, watch out for the ones that looks pretty much the same but in a blue, branded Masterplug pack, they scan in at ~£5.
thankyou s2frost managed to get the last one in derby ossie road
Got a couple this afternoon (Saturday) for 50p each no problem thanks!

got the last ones at sainsburys silksworth sunderland
Cheers for the heads up on the offer.

Picked up 2 from my local, although it mentions 1A my mobile (San Fran) only recognises it as charging via USB not AC. I'm using the phones official charging lead plugged into it. Battery status in the menu 'about phone' is 'Charging (USB)'

The cheap ebay Cigarette lighter charger I got shows Charging(AC) in the car and doesn't even mention outputting 1A so I thought these would definately have no problems giving out enough oomph.

Ditto, I posted in the other thread on this. Glad it's not just me but don't know why it's doing this. With 1A you'd expect AC charging. My research on this sort of problem generally suggests a solution is to open the plug and short certain pins, but I don't think I'll try that!

Go to the frozen section it should be available
I bought one from Oxford Westgate - still plenty in stock.
A bargain at this price. It'll be handy for my Raspberry Pi :o)

Heat added.
Tested on an Arc S, 1 hour gets the battery to 33%. An hour with the charger which came with the Arc S (rated 5.0VDC, 850mA) gets 61%. An hour from a computers USB port gets 11%. So it's not bad for 50p, but would be disappointed with the charge time at the original RRP of this.

Not sure this was a fair test, particularly given that your Arc S charger is rated 850mA - less than this charger.

Batteries charge faster when fully discharged due to the potential difference betwen the source and battery. Did you take this into account and fully discharge after each one hour charge? Plus charging circuits will charge the battery at different rates according to the current, charge and profile of the battery, some are even known to reduce the charging rate unless it sees a "signature voltage" from the charging device.

I tested against the charger supplied with my Galaxy S3, both times from totally flat - and both times it charged in exactly the same time! No surprise there since both are rated at... you guessed it 1000mA!

LOL Awesome... never thought of it for that... giving one to my pal now for his Pi!! Good call!

Don't forget your micro-usb Nokia CA-101 charging cable for 99p from Amazon!

Yes... those bigger Masterplug chargers with a passthrough socket are great - but be aware only one of the two sockets on the top will charge an IPAD, the other seems to have a weaker output! - go figure!

About 6 or more left in Didcot, Orchard Centre. They were at the end of a till 'island', not the normal aisles.

Surely this one would therefore be as quick, if not quicker than the official charger then?

Of course. The test was done over a few days after running the battery down.

Some isolated tests done on this unit to gauge its current output here, (need to scroll 2/3 down the page to find post from 'domble' on May 08), but no reports as far as I can tell from someone who's connected a Raspberry Pi to it and tested it under a demanding load (i.e. with USB peripherals attached). I've bought one for my R-Pi... who's powering their R-Pi from this?

Beautifully powering my Raspberry Pi for 50p. Thank you.
Bought some from Bracknell, Bagshot Road - also to power my Raspberry Pi and USB 7 Port hub and some spares.
Thanks OP.
