Sainsbury's Pestle & mortar £10 in store - big heavy granite one - IN STOCK in store

Weighs in at 3.5kgs of solid polished granite! lol. Feel the quality.

Right don't slate me (geddit!!??? lol) for posting this because it's the normal price. HOWEVER: it's OOS online so you might need to get down Sainsbury's sharpish if you want one. I've been looking for a decent pestle & mortar for some time and I just got the Sainsbury's girl to open the box and show me this one - it's really heavy, pretty big (Height 15cm, Width 17cm, Depth 18cm), looks good. PLUS you won't find anything close to this online - I know, I've looked and you'll pay £10 more for similar quality. I'm going back to buy 2, having double checked there's no cheaper one available.

I'll post a couple of reviews. Hope it helps some of us who were disappointed by the Debenham's debacle with cancelled pestle & mortar orders.

Seems great, might go and get one if our Sainsburys stocks it.
Decent price for such a large Pestle & Mortar, though too big for me. TK Maxx usually have a large range of Pestle & Mortars for around and under £10, lots of different sizes, and you can usually find a reduced one in the kitchen clearance section. I managed to get one for £4 last year, not quite as big as this though.
Out of Stock
£8 at morrisons
If you have a Robert Dyas near you they were selling the Granite Jamie Oliver one for £5 in there January Sale.

Thanks for posting OP
So you don't recommend this then!
Im going to vote this cold just because squillion wont stop posting in his own thread! (_;)
I am sure I have this one at home and when it was on a surface the bottom of it had maked. it left a purple (ish) ring where it had been sat a while?
other than that, it is a good piece of kitchen kit
Cold for 2 reasons.

Not only is it RRP
you have hunt for one as it's OOS online and not all sainsburys stock it
EDIT
okay 3rd reason: OMG .. Squillion is so excited over a pestle & Mortar to buy 3 of them.. You know you don't have to mill your own flour these days.. just buy if off the shelf X)

Can't believe someone could possibly get so excited at getting a mortar set. If I opened a gift and saw this I'd hope it was a joke.

Your one is a lot smaller

No it's not, it is taller and deeper, rather than wider and shallower. It is also granite, weights 3.5kg and costs almost half of what yours did.

Are we talking about the pestle and mortar here?
Have some heat for enthusiasm OP .. HUKD needs more folk like you .. not sue if it is a great price, but I'd buy one at that price for the weight alone. Has to be better than this old wooden one I have here!
This thread is hilarious. Heat just for that!

(Also £10 does seem like pretty good value for a large granite mortar and pestle).
This's NOT a pure granite, it's an Agglomerate Granite from China. It's a cheap sh...
Sorry for my Polish-English :-)

Nope yours will not be very pleasing to use, it's no good for cooking … Nope yours will not be very pleasing to use, it's no good for cooking with because of its tiny size [Mortar 8cm x 16cm]

You are free to buy one for almost half the price you paid for yours, and see just how tiny it is.

Of course, it you want to pay double for something that you can get elsewhere and cheaper, then that is entirely your decision... but lets not pretend it is a deal, and certainly not one worth buying 3 times lmao

And lets not forget, you can get mine online or in the shop, infact delivered, it still works out cheaper than yours...

Just to add: I asked the Sainsbury's girl today if they were going to get … Just to add: I asked the Sainsbury's girl today if they were going to get any more in and she didn't know for sure but thought it unlikely. So go grab 'em if you fancy one.

Grab the Sainsbury's girl?? :-/
