Sainsbury's Raw Jumbo King Prawns, Taste the Difference 225g

Got these in Sainsburys Flint yesterday, half price at £2.00 which i think is bargainous

seem to be full price still online so unsure whether it was just my store, but wasn't a sale label so i would have thought it was nationwide.

also had the cooked taste the difference prawns half price down to £2.50

these are always either half price or BOGOF...

I think these are the 'Farmed in Thailand' ones.

Yeh that's right, but usually £5 BOGOF or half price at £2.50. We buy a lot of these so £2 down from £2.50 can't be knocked.
(I'll ignore the 'farmed' bit... Ignorance is bliss..)

It's a good deal and I'm not trying to put a dampener on it, but king prawn farming and production is very destructive to the environment and virtual slave labour is used in some countries.

An ethically sounder choice would be cold water prawns from the north atlantic. Do your own research, though, don't take my word for it.

Taste good tho'.

The cooked Prawns are currently £5 no BOGOF.

full price in my branch . the cooked ones are now half price instead

I'm not saying you're wrong at all, but I'd be interested to see what Sainsbury's definition of 'Responsibly sourced' is, as they claim these prawns are. It does seem a bit suspicious that where it says 'country of origin', it says 'PACKED in the UK'. What does that tell us, other than this is where they were stuffed into individual bags??
