Have been looking for a cheap basic microwave and found this instore today at Sainsburys Leicester Fosse Park, are online too.

Looks quite decent for the price reduced from £49.99, has a grill and digital display too.
Five power levels and nine programmes let you get your food just right, and you can choose from express and combination cooking for great results.

Weight defrost and auto-cook menus take the hassle out of food preparation, and there's a child safety lock for extra peace of mind.

Thank you

Got one yesterday - works very well, looks good and great value. I took the last boxed one in Sloughs big Sainsbury....

worried about its energy efficiency. However I have ordered one anyway. I need a cheap microwave for my flat.

You have time to be worried about it's energy efficiency?

Blimey, I'd love to live in your world...!!

I picked up a 800W/ 20L one from Sainsburys for £39.99 a couple of months ago. Just don't think that is good value for a 700W Microwave. Not voted either way.

Keep your receipt, they have a habit of making an unnerving electrical hum even when not cooking, if you get one which doesn't then it is a very well priced microwave.

Only 700W, voted cold.

mooo: there won't be much difference in energy efficiency between microwave ovens.

sean316: silly reason to vote cold. If you look at the microwave cooking guidelines on food you'll find the time saving with a higher wattage oven is minimal.

I have this exact one, have had it for 2 years this week and it is used several times a week with no problems and no 'hum' that mjr600 mentioned. I'm happy with mine and despite paying much less than this ('damaged box' and staff discount) I would definitely recommend it at that price.

I had this problem after a few weeks, and it happened again with the replacement unit. Not sure what was going on but I wouldn't recommend it even at this price.

The store was good about refunds so if you do purchase make sure you keep the receipt!

Great price, thanks you

Just what my son's family needs. Many thanks.

This is tiny, doubt you'd get a normal dinner plate in!

In that case I'll wont't csncel the order. Just waiting on the email to tell me to pick it up from the store.

It appears there a fault with the microwave. I noticed it decides to cut out when it gets too hot.
I'm planning to have it returned back to the store for a refund.

Are you leaving the correct clearance around it, as stipulated in the instructions?

Yep,
Its on open worktop in my kitchen.. Nothing blocking the vents. Very strange.
I thought the rear vents might need more clearance from the wall. So I moved forward and tried again. Same thing happens.
