My advice as an ex florist is if you are buying the cheaper roses for Valentines day then buy them maybe a day or 2 in advance , then look up a couple of videos on youtube on how to make cut roses last longer , the most important thing with cut roses is how you cut the ends when you take them home .. you must cut the end of the stem with a sharp knife and as big an angle as possible so enough water can reach the petals , also if there is any flower food included then add it to the water .. if enough water reaches the petals then they will last longer and also open nicely .. hope this helps
P.S. from experience regardless of what most men think , majority of women (not all)they expect flowers on Valentines day , they absolutely hate it when their colleagues , friends receive flowers but they don't , regardless of how many times you have bought them flowers during the year !
i am just sharing my experience from over 20 years as a florist

Iwonder if they were kept cool and dark, if they would last until the 14th?

Are we talking about the flowers or the Mrs?
Perfect for a cheapskate like me who doesn't see the point of being extra nice one day of the year when we can just be nice to each other the rest of the 364 days as well!
Good deal 🔥

Aldi are offering 12 red roses for £1.99 which is slightly cheaper and happens to be nearer for me, starts on the 11th of Feb

How do you order for delivery? I've just gone through and booked a delivery slot, then it just reverted back to the shopping page instead of payment.
Is there a minimum spend on Sainsbury's delivery?
Never used it before.

Erm, I think if you want to get them delivered on the day, you're going to have to spend a bit more (not sure my misses would like a Sainsburys van turning up with them) :

You're so lucky

True, and you don't even need to be a florist to know that you just need common sense. Most guys are in miserable relationships/marriages nowadays and wonder why
Hardly a fitting symbol of your love.
"Here you go girl. Grab these. My love for you is like these roses. Give it a week and they will start to rot."
Buy her something that will last, and constantly remind her of you. Perhaps a new iron or vacuum cleaner.
At least you won't be wasting as much money as if you had bought the Aldi deal.
Cold. Too expensive

Only joking, a good buy op. Heat added, just don't get it near the flowers!

To be honest in the places I've worked in all people think when someone gets flowers delivered to their work is "a worried husband who worries they may be having an affair at work, so sending flowers is a form of 'hands off'"
Men love flowers too.

In an equal society how come it's still men expected to buy flowers? Don't get me wrong I love to buy my wife valentines gifts as I love her dearly.. Just your last comments are a bit sexist IMO

Maybe because they have horrible wives who don't treat them nice but expect flowers on valentines.. Men it's easy to demonise them

Well she's still your wife, you're still together it only takes five minutes and a few coins. Can think of things I've done for a stranger that required more effort.

What you on about? I said previously that I love her dearly, I buy her flowers and gifts every year.. I was criticising your men demonisation comment an automatic assumption that a sad man brings it on him self.. Maybe he is sad and does buy her flowers (like that would fix things anyway) women can be just as bad as a man can, how often do you buy flowers for your husband?

As i mentioned in my comment i was only sharing my experience from being a florist for many years and you might think it is sexist ... but nobody ever stops women from going into a shop or phoning to send flowers to their husbands or boyfriends , but they hardly ever do , just about every year on valentines day we had a queue of customers all day long but it was big majority men in the queue .. the only times we delivered flowers to a guy on valentines day was from their gay partner ,I guess most ladies associate flowers with femininity so they don't want to emasculate their men by giving them what is viewed as a ‘girly’ gift . personally if a lady bought me flowers i would be impressed and thankful .
