It'll be fine well past the best before date. We made 12 jars of the stuff six years ago! Was still ok this year and we have 2 jars left for next Christmas!

Thanks, I'm new to this baking stuff, but after the disappointment of branded mince pies last year (hard pastry and hardly any filling), I've promised to TRY to bake my own this year. I just need to find an easy recipe to follow and get any tips I can. My Nan always used to bake them for us but sadly she's no longer with us so I would love to keep up with this tradition and pass it on. (That's if I don't poison everyone first with my mince pies):D

Yes but what meat is the mince?

There's *no* meat in it. The "mince" in the title refers to it's medieval origins, where they did indeed mix minced meat with fruits & spices. Not for a hell of a long time now though.

Brilliant thank you, I whizzed down to my local Sainsbury's, missed their own brand at 7p but bought Robertsons mincemeat for 10p a jar. Definitely hot from me.

BBE November 2017 but I am reliably informed that they in fact keep for years.
