Just come back from Sainsburys and saw these on a side isle. I thought it was weird as the 1kg bottle is normally £1.05 and yet it had a sale sticker for 26p. Thinking it would have a crappy expiry date I looked closer and they die in June 2009.

1kg for 26p
750g for 20p

both in plastic squeezy bottles.

Yes it's not at nice as Heinz, but you won't ever see Heinz even close to these prices.

I have no idea why they are so cheap, maybe discontinuing, but strangely enough in the Ketchup isle there is no sign of the reduction. Also whether it's my local store only is unknown as well.

f hell

That's cheap if it's at every store!

And it's every bit as good as Heinz too imo.

Voted hot.

If its just your store it could be someone over ordered so the store is trying to "get rid" or hide the evidence before stock take is done. lol

However if its nationwide it could be that they want to sell old stock as it will be rebranded "new design label". They did the same thing in the past with the 100g/200g chocolate bars/slabs they sold them off less than half price the ones with silver foil and paper label and the new stock was in sealed plastic wrapper. I think Asda have done the same thing with some of their own brand products.

Or it could just be a "price war" with the other supermarkets.

Will have a look tomorrow - thanks for the tip!!

Yes they have recently changed to a "New Recipe" which is not as nice as the old one. The new bottles say new recipe on them. Maybe the OP can confirm this is the older stock.

Far from it in my opinion, thick gloopy red water.

This reminds me, I saw a jar of Sainsbury's mint sauce going for like 10p I think yesterday...

Sainsburys Tomato Ketchup actually tastes much better than Heinz Ketchup.

Agree!!! I don't like Heinz Ketchup as well, I usually buy the ketchup from Lidl, 50p for about 500ml, and it's quality is lot better than Heinz!!!!

Heat just for the title - made me chuckle ! !

So has anyone else found this cheap ketchup?
