Sad state of affairs and so close to the oil fields, would never happen in Norway.
Shhhhh, don't tell everyone. We noticed the price yesterday when we were there. Seems too good to be true

But you can drive from Birsay to Burwick on one gallon!

I'd prefer to pay 10p a litre more to live in Orkney rather than Bishop Auckland!

But in honesty it is because of the relatively small volume they require and the refinery is 300 miles away in Grangemouth.
Re Orkney
I passed this filling station last week on the way to Teesdale ("near" to Bishop Auckland and with spectacular dales, moorlands and waterfalls and saves the 10p vs Orkney!) to collect my 10yr old from Scout camp.
It was 118.9p/ltr then and has come down in price since.
20 miles away where I live as per previous posts price is typically 125.9-130.9 ish.
On the way home crossed over into Weardale and a herd of Llamas (or perhaps Alpacas (I'm no expert))ran across one of the roads up on the moors.
Turns out some escaped from a local farm when talking to the locals in a nearby pub.
You'll probably have Llamas in Orkney too though I'm guessing.

£1:18 get it right hee hee

The correct price is in the title
The website only shows the first 3 digits so rounds it from 117.9p to £1.17
To get it to show £1.18 I would have to put it at 118.9p but would have been a penny per litre more (118.9p vs actually 117.9p) than it actually is retailing for.

Thanks but too many others ahead of it and I'd have to visit Orkney to do a fair comparison.Nearest I got was John O'Groats where Orkney was visible about 3 or 4 miles away.
