What I can't understand is how come over all those years no one yet invented a kettle which does not fail prematurely, spill boiling water etc?! My last breville lasted nearly 4 years with all abuse. Now I hardly get year out of them, never mind year last one lasted 2 weeks till popped rcd for whole house In fact current kettles don't even get that much use any-more in my house since we bought coffee machine. Summing up kettle manufacturing quality only degraded over years!

Ours didnt even last a month , been waiting for them to reace it since lockdown. Shocking customer service .
I got one of these from Robert Days last year.
Not got any of the issues Amazon reviewers state, apart from the ease of scratching. It looks a bit like those copper scratch painting things you used to get after a few months.

Planned obsolescence
Almost bought this last year but the reviews were shocking, and all were pretty recent..
DO NOT BUY THIS KETTLE.

honestly, the cheapest pile of crap you could buy, These were in lidl recently along with it's toaster counterpart claiming to be an amazing limited deal down from £44.99. I'm telling you now, these are worth max £10 each they're so light and cheap, the quality is shocking. If you said to a manufacturing team to build you the cheapest possible kettle but still pass safety standards this is what you get.

We took the kettle back because it doesnt sit right on the base, the lid wouldn't stay closed because its basically just a dimple of pushed out metal so it pops back up, the handle arrived in a scratched/dented condition that should never have been allowed past inspection and the black coating decides to shed the moment you release it from the box. The toaster broke within 2 weeks, it wouldnt stick when you pull the lever down.

Honestly amazes me that they can get away with building something of such terrible quality, i'd be shocked if they lasted 3 months. I had to apologise to my faithful 5+ year Delonghi kettle when I brought it back in from the garage, it was embarrassing to have replaced it with such a monstrosity

Apart from the peeling, I didnt have any of these issues. Guess I was just lucky.
