This is said to be a June only offer, Samba Sim Card for just £2.99!

The sim card gives you access to a completely free Internet service which is funded by adverts. I have one and it works perfectly!

You'll need a 3 / unlocked dongle for this, or an iPad android tablet etc...

You'top up' your account by watching their adverts, so you can keep using until there are no more ads to watch.

You never know for how long this scam will work...somebody is making money...

the ads on their site dont even play and have expired. not a good sign...

I've just done a load now. They only support select browsers, not Internet explorer.

I've been using this and you earn 3.5mb of data per video you watch. 2 minute advert on your pc or iPad when your at home and it adds it immediately to your sim. I've had no issues yet with it. Great for my vita! No expiry on the data you earn either!

sounds like a bit like the other sim that did free texs a few years ago but they got sold so lost out on that but this sounds good

Yep the Blyk sim.. they used to give 50mins and 150texts every month, in return for sending you a few "ad" texts every month. They eventually stopped as they wernt making any profit. Im guessing the same will happen to these guys.

It'd take forever watching advert clips to get any amount of data worth knowing about. Rubbish in my opinion

Not a browser issue. Site works ok. When you try the adverts they all say that the ad has expired, try another. Can't get a single one to work. (In firefox). Doesn't seem very good or professional.

Well, hey, I used it today and it didn't do that to me so it doesn't affect everyone. I'd email or tweet them to get support for that because they reply pretty fast and its unfair to call a new startup business unprofessional.

I've just watched 15 adverts on my iPad, worked fine, have also used chrome and firefox on a few different pc's which all worked fine for me. Some IP blocker/software to stop the government seeing your illegal downloads, cause the player not to work as it obviously has to use your IP/cookie settings to work.

Sounds interesting. I'm with Ovivo at the mo and v happy with their service, but the more the merrier

Oh and also, it will say its expired if you don't CLICK the advert to start playing it. It then full screens it and plays the actual advert instead of the small "preview" box, very common mistake!!

Sounds like CUKD- instead of using Mb viewing hot deals you're receiving Mb viewing cold ones

Anyone know if the data you earn expires after a period of time eg. 30 days??

No it doesn't, the data you earn watching videos never runs out. For example If you watch 250 videos over 3 days, (sounds a lot but they can be left playing in the background without volume) then you earn just under 1gb, which last me about a month on my vita. But there s no expiry date on it.

The only thing that DOES expire is the cash purchase data packs (1gb is 7 quid) which expires after 30 days)

OK... How much is the p&p? What happens to your details that you send them? Sounds borderline dodgy to me

£2.00 p&p - please change the cost shown to £4.99

The company will use your details "to provide you with information concerning other products or services which we feel may interest you, based on the preferences which you have selected and on your use of our products and services;"

There's also a lot about passing on your information when they get bought out.

All ok with it...does what it says on the tin. It operates on the 3 network and seems pretty fast enough in my tablet /netbook. Watching a few adverts is a no brainer ..and apart from the owners of the business, who cares if it goes belly up in six months?...sim cost pays for itself within a month easily

What information can they pass on exactly?
The business model is based on non specific advertising. They give me broadband and in exchange I give my time to play random adverts of which they get paid per viewing.

These terms and conditions are no different than those detailed by B&Q, Marks and Spencer, Halfords and Sainsburys online terms....as well as countless others.
When I joined I did not have to give my D.O.B, religion, race, mothers maiden name, pets name, shoe size or sexual orientation etc etc...
I agree with your view that it is good to be aware but scaremongering doesnt help new enterprises get off the ground.
I very much like the concept of free mobile internet with no use by date albeit with the effort to watch a few ads occassionally...I am fed up with being ripped off by the mobile networks each month for so called mobile broadband data and the use it or lose it 30 day policy and also the abhorrent charges to access wifi in hotels just to check emails or browse.

If anyone is so concerned then create and sign up with a new web based email address. Pay for it using a travel money card. Use a different name, or easier still.. get someone else to purchase one for you. There is no other necessary ongoing cost from initial sim purchase and divulging any useful personal information can very easily be avoided.
BTW... I am not associated or employed by Samba in any form its just that I have been waiting for a free model to evolve for a while now.

I've been using for a few weeks now - speed is good and I've binned my monthly vodafone bills for my ipad

I can see the phone number of the SIM Card on my accounts page - is there anything to stop be receiving incoming calls or sms?

I have the SIM Card in my android phone and although I never have need to call anyone it would be nice to allow people to call me.

It's just for mobile broadband I think, so you wouldn't be able to receive calls. Great service though. I've ditched my monthly dongle contract like the guy above which has already saved me £20.

One good point I've discovered: you can use a dongle locked to Three

What, like it says in the OP. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn219/jumpingphil/RollEyes.gif

Noticing a real drop-off in the number of ads available each day...

Here's my earnings.

17 June 143.50 MB
18 June 157.50 MB
19 June 129.50 MB
20 June 136.50 MB
21 June 129.50 MB
22 June 213.50 MB
23 June 108.50 MB
25 June 108.50 MB
26 June 66.50 MB
28 June 45.50 MB

A high of 213MB, a low of 45MB and 123MB/day average. Hopefully it doesn't drop even more than it has

Just had sim arrive and says no service, yet previous 3 sim ok?

Woking fine now,reccomended!

Heat added. I use this & it's been quite reliable.

Anyone tried this?

To me the ovivomobile.com/ deal looks better
(also a fiver to get the SIM and then 1Gb a month without requirement to watch ad videos, but they do serve ads as well)

Not tried SAMBA, nor OVIVO so I should just shut up :-)

Still HOT!

Any ideas how much data you get to watch one ad?

Website says 3.5mb per ad.

There was a recent article about this on the BBC:

bbc.co.uk/new…200

I've not used the Samba service, but it looks a good deal. I do use the Ovivo service [for over a month now, link here [1]), although just for calls/text/internet, and I love their service. They also have, as plap mentions above, a Sim broadband service.

As an aside, this Samba deal was posted on HUKD 2 weeks ago already: hotukdeals.com/dea…971

I have a 3 mifi which is unlocked - what settings would I use to use this sim with that mifi?

An average ad earns 3.5MB, so the company calculates that watching four and a half ads a day would earn 525MB of data.

I don't really get the maths there?
