Samba mobile dongle £25

Found 9th Jul 2012
The Samba mobile broadband dongle has arrived. Just pay £25 for the dongle which includes the sim card and never pay for mobile broadband again.
I know the Samba sim card deal is floating around but thought i'd post this for people who may need a dongle too.

Getting 3.5mb of data for watching 1 advert and there not being a whole load of adverst to watch (even if you think this a good use of tme) for me makes this cold !

Surely there must be a "fix" for this so i dont have to sit through an hours worth of adverts (which im probably not going to buy anyway) just to get a few hundred meg, therefore savign them bandwith and my time!

Come on programming boffins, get something developed (_;)

Just open the adverts in tabs. "Watch" a dozen at the same time.

And why not just buy a dirt cheap unlocked/locked to 3 dongle off ebay?

You can, the SIM-only deal is £5. Though there's a warning in the advertisement:

we use the best mobile data network (Three) in the UK

I didn't realise that Three had 2 networks - the crap one that all their customers complain about, and this special "best" one that presumably they've implemented just for this service

UPDATE: I just went to their Try out the service thingy. I selected the Natwest ad and got nothing except a black screen. Some moments later, up popped a message saying "This ad has expired". Tried another one and got the same experience.

I think I'm gonna walk away from this service.

Not a bad deal for someone wanting to get started on the internet and not sure if they actually want or need it. A lot better than signing up to an 18 month internet package on your phone line only to find out you don't use it, or don't need it. You could also sell the dongle on afterwards if you find out you don't need it.

Do you have an ad-blocker on your browser?

I have done this and the adverts soon run out. Then it only offers one or two adverts.some adverts wont let you open in tabs and say "please wait before watching the same add again"It is hard work building up credit.
I want to use it on holiday and that is probably all it is good for.
i.e. build up credit for two months to last one or two weeks.

I have an unlimited data plan on my mobile network, and if i want to use my netbook outside a free wifi service I just tether my phone to it. None of this hassle.

Some dont allow teathering

Giffgaff for example when using a goodybag with unlimited data.

Naturally, doesn't everyone? And it's not coming off for anything

Not even if you want to watch the adverts?

As with any network it will depend whether it works in the areas where you need it. As with any ad-funded service if they find everyone is running the ads and not watching them the service will have to change or close down.

AVOID THESE! ordered the sim only from a deal on here, watched lots of ads to build up the allowance, popped on facebook for an hour.I had 28mb left when i turned it off and disconnected then when i logged back in data said -787mb i only use that in 2 weeks and now they have blocked the sim card!
dont waste your time

That's why you can't see the ads. You can usually allow ads by domain name. I added an exception to mine and it works fine.

It's the Three data network they use, which ranks highest on YouGov apparently. It's making calls that people complain about but that's obviously not relevant with this offer. Also as BeerDrinker says, you'll need to remove your ad blocker first. It is after all an ad funded service...

Does anyone know what type of dongle comes with this im trying to find out will it work with the ainol tablets, cheers.

Um... for 500mb of data per month you would have to watch 143 adverts per month... with so many phone contracts including data and with so many of them able to be tethered to a laptop/device, is this worth the hassle..

no vote either way from me.

have been using this for a while now, it works ok , but really only any good for very light users

these are good..ive no issues with mine.

most mobile providers dont allow tethering from a smart phone. The only one I know you can this is three. Deffo cannot with T-mobile and orange!

i just ordered the full 3 lot of sims from sambamobile as long as there is coverage should be intresting
i also got one of these as well -vivomobile hotukdeals.com/dea…243 as i did not really get it completely when i first read it (free sim small fata text and calls

orange always allow tethering on contract (so you can Rack up an Stupid bill with there silly low data limits), PAYG orange i guess you can't
T-mobile say you can't tether but they never enforce the rule (do not need to really with 500mb High speed limit {2g speeds for the renaming month)+ the constant traffic shaping as well)
Three is really unlimited data Up To An Point as they started to traffic manage users who abuse the unlimited data to much (constant torrenting or overkill constant downloading) the trigger depends on how much Load is the the Mast before the heavy users get shaped

Impression I had was that few low cost contracts include tethering. VM seems to allow it, Three permits it only on their One Plan (starting at 25 quid a month), and perhaps iPhone users get it (again on a 25+/month contract).
