Samba Mobile Sim for £1

Found 27th Dec 2013
I ordered a samba micro sim this morning and decided to see if the code BG1 still got me a discount, which it did. The normal price is £5 and you get 'free' data for watching adverts.

I know this has been posted loads already, but they've all expired and I don't think any of them used this code.

code: BG1

I've had this for a while - Very good, and a bargain for a one-off payment of £1.

Very too cheap data sim, got one in my iPad mini, very handy for occasional use or when my WiFi cuts out

Thanks - just ordered. I'll give it a go. Just hope they dont bug me on my mobile

I was just about to post this deal as like you I noticed that code still worked. ;-)

Great deal, I've used samba since they started as I only occasionally need 3g service. I've found it very reliable and a good price even if I can't be bothered watching ads and just pay for data as and when I need it.

So there's no comparison between £1 for this and £20 for an Ovivo card (£5 after credit is taken into account) - BUT the Ovivo offer is WAY easier for the consumer.

Samba give you 3.5mb of data per advert watched, and they state that each ad is 30-60 seconds in length. So, to get the 1000mb that Ovivo give you, you'd have to watch 286 adverts. Even if they were all 30 seconds this is still well over 2 hours of adverts. The Ovivo ads are only 5 seconds long and you shouldn't see anywhere near this many. If you use mainly apps, the Ovivo data works irrespective of whether you've viewed any ads or not.

The extra £4 for the Ovivio sim (and £15 for credit) is well worth the extra money IMO.

Ads vary from 20s to 6mins in my experience. Quite often the ones advertising games are overlong. Samba often has double or treble data weekends, which is when I tend to dip in.

Samba is an awful experience. I tried it, but it was just a waste of time. There was also the issue of not getting the credit for watched adverts.

I was sceptical of Samba at first ... but am a convert. I've accrued over 4GB of credit & because I use 3G so infrequently (when travelling or in hotels) - I barely touch the credit. So I could probably go without viewing another advert for a year now. Although I still do login from time to time and plough through some ads to keep topping up.

I've got mine in a Mifi which is especially convenient as multiple devices can use it (including my laptop).

Ovivo use the Vodafone network which many people find totally c**p for 3G data!!

So there is no contest - use Samba and the 3 network!

Except you can bank up lots of samba credit and then use it when necessary.

I use it as a backup and it's quite easy to get 1GB+ banked, you can alt-tab the adverts or just mute them

IMHO Samba wipes the floor with Ovivo for web browsing, I have an Ovivo sim for my smart phone and a Samba sim for my tablet. They are both excellent for what I need but surfing the web with Ovivo is painful, I get diverted to an advert every 3 web pages I browse. As others have said you can easily build up credit with Samba, and without watching the ads if you don't want (although not really in the spirit), just set it going with volume on mute and carry on surfing.

Yes most tablets do micro-sim, it's the right one

eloo

Thank you

You're welcome my fellow Hukd'er

Samba works well, and the plus is the accrued data doesn't run out after a month, it lasts forever. I have 4 sims (bought one each time they are £1 - well I cant resist!) One in Mifi (21GB) one in Ipad (12GB) one in WIfes Ipad (12Gb) and the "spare" with 8GB on. Just bang through the adverts while at work, roun a couple at a time if i use Chrome and firefox for different Sim cards.

Use when away in UK, |Hotels, Camping etc, great for streaming telly as 3 network is nice n fast.

Hopefully will move to 4G when available.
Best get topping up, data will disappear quick on the 4G

Hardly an informed comment really. People all over the land will find different networks perform differently according to where they live/work. For example, my Three mifi is superfast at home (city centre) and pretty terrible at work. My Ovivo sims (on Voda) are average speed at home but really fast at work.

Suggesting 'there is no contest' and everyone should use Samba/Three just because one network does well for you personally, is daft.

Ibought it last time, they only give you 5 adverts to watch which is crap, sim is not in use generally, so don't waste £1. But ovivo

I said MANY people! It is not just me - every time the Ovivo fans come out people dissatisfied with Vodafone for 3G come out from many parts of the country!

I don't believe Vodafone have much in the way of DC-HSPDA anywhere - 3 have been rolling it out most places in recent months.

Its only a pound , so people can find out for themselves. But in my experience, Samba is a total waste of time. Although, I must say I did enjoy some of the adverts. They need to give more data per advert to make it worthwhile in my opinion. I have Ovivo for my phone , which is excellent. Cannot comment on Ovivo on data.

Thanks, ordered for my mifi

Change your favourites and unrestrict every category. I get more like twenty.

I have had mine for ages and you often get cheated - either getting an 'oops' claiming you have seen the same advert twice in a row or otherwise the credit given button fails to materialise at the end of the advert. The latter tends to happen with specific adverts so it is best to just avoid them.

Would this be suitable to use with Playstation Vita

so when all your data / credit runs out,,,,, will it let you get access to watch more adds to build your data back up ?
or would you need to top up more credit

You get 'paid' in data for each advert you watch, so when your data runs out you just watch more.

I chose samba for a couple of reasons- the low initial cost because I'll only be using it occasionally and that it uses the three network as vodafone for some reason has really patchy signal in my area. I would probably go with Ovivo if I were going to use it more often though, or if I lived on the West coast of Scotland where it seems like you only get Vodafone!

BG1 not working but mse100 is thank you

"Just get both OVIVO & Samba, I have both, one for the smartphone and one for the tablet, jobs a golden!.. :P"

I've got them both on a dual sim mobile

£1 for a SIM to go into an iPad for occasional use is pretty good, especially if you only want it for when the wifi isn't working. Click on a few adverts during the day when you're at work and you'll soon build up a small amount of data credit that you can use. If I needed it for more usage I'd probably go with Ovivo, but that's £20 and I'll see how I get on with this first. If it's hopeless then I'm only out £1.
