Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO £29.97. instore Currys

Found 29th Nov 2014
I was out shopping and called in at my local Currys, I asked about the SSD range and the guy came back with 5 different models, most were sensibly priced but the Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO scans at only £29.97.

Not the biggest but for that price it's a bargain, not sure if local or national but it's worth checking when you pass one.
Website has it listed at £59.99

My local was the Kingston Park branch in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

It would be nice to mention which one is your local - I'm guessing it's Newcastle upon Tyne....

And your local would be... ? nvm, you posted the receipt before my post.

besides, are'nt those xx.97 deals extremely hard to find in stores? like uber rare clearance items?

Great price if you can find one - otherwise a "wild indian chase" @ Currys...

No proof required and its poor form for you to ask.

Well maybe but it helps people verify if this is legit or not.

Without evidence such as a receipt or link it is possible a company could use this site to draw people into store without the item actually being in offer.

However op has given a photo. Like yiu say theres no requirement for one but its logical people will ask and its perfectly ok for them to ask imo.

Trust me, it might as well be

In fact it's worse as they don't do club card boost!

Its not logical to ask for proof. However it is acceptable if asked politely for new posters.
However the proof card is pulled to often on people with 10s of deals.
These deals will be limited but will be national where stick remains.

Damn... my local don't have any ssds for sale and the megastore near me usually don't have these xx.97 deals

I don't see an ssd in my future... not @ 29.97 that is.

Voted hot anyway.

I got one in charlton, London so it's reasonably national. They had loads (well more than 3).

Is the one in charlton a local store or a megastore?

Great price

Don't like .97 deals from currys

Great find! Went to Tesco Kingston Park today but cba to pop in to PC World, wish I had now :-(

Soz, missed this the first time I read it! Thanks, will try tomorrow

If they had these in PCWorld/Currys in Ireland I would buy as many as they had. Super hot.

9 stores around me in a 30 mile radius...all have it but at 59-99....

If it breaks down, you have to deal with Currys customer service though.

Well, i'll check my local and megastore tomorrow and see what comes up.

Well, I guess that I'm heading down to Charlton tomorrow!

Don't really need one - but it's hard to resist at this price!

Surely you just deal with Samsung warranty?

Different product number to the current one so maybe just been sitting around for a while and maybe has old firmware...

Stonking price for a great all round SSD :-)

Thankfully it's a Samsung, which is the most reliable popular SSD brand.

They are good but I would put Intel as the most reliable.

This community has been poisonous for a long time. Not point trying to change it.

Let loose the Goose

I got this same one about 2 months ago, although I paid 49.97 I believe in Durham.

Hi guys
I read about this SSD having problems with the firmware, it will drop the write / read speeds dramatically after a few days of use.
Can someone confirm this ?
Thanks
