The price looks very attractive for anyone looking to use this as a TV and monitor in their room. I looked on ebuyer and the cheapest 17" they have is a Vistron 500:1 for £124.99. Haven't read reviews but looking at specs, this Samsung looks quite good. 3 years warranty as well!

Frigid because it is not widescreen - as most of what I watch is 16:9 it means it is like watching through the front door letterbox, and the actual image size is effectively only like it would be on a 13 or 14 " :-(
What on earth makes them still manufacture them in this format?

tele transmission is mostly in 4:3 is it not?
DVD played through your pc will be squashed, granted but for what it is its a good deal.

All oppinion though eh

Not on mine it isn't!

This model has an analogue TV tuner, not Freeview as stated in title!

It's actually a monitor first and a TV second. 4:3 is much better for surfing than widescreen, unless you can tilt your screen by 90 deg.

Yes that's true. Slash, could you edit the title please.

I returned one of these back to ebuyer when it was on offer there for £130. The tuner is very weak and considerably poorer than an old Nokia 14" portable I was using, so much so that I couldnt get half the channels at all on the Samsung using the same roof ariel!

Just a heads up if the TV tuner is important and you live in a medium to weak signal area.

Also the blacks sometimes went green when I was playing XBOX on it - which was a very weird effect (but might be a specific manufactureing problem with the unit I received). Assuming the latter, I can say that the picture was very good on the XBOX, but disappointing with the TV

However Samsung Sales details on this monitor can be found ]here

Found this deal about a week ago, but try to reserve one - they are out of stock everywhere around the south west.

The ****** website won't tell you where there is one in stock, you just have to keep clicking the boxes on the next nearest store one at a time.

ARGOS need to sort out their awful website!

Why would that be?
Seeing most people author web sites for widescreen monitors. Probably because most monitors are widescreen now!

I agree that vertical (Portrait) format would often be better, but only if the site had been set up for that.
