£40 quid premium over current 64/128gig prices!

totally agree - anyone looking for 256gb in their device should buy 4 64gb and sellotape them together...

Lol, thought similar also, hehehe.

Someone, somewhere will cop one of these still I guess? (not me though). :-)
Good price, happy to see memory prices beginning to fall. Buy directly from Amazon or reputatable sellers and avoid 3rd party sellers with poor feedback. Just to note this is same price on mymemory.co.uk where you can get it slightly cheaper with current promo codes and Quidco.

Sorry not seeing how this is a good price?

For point of reference sata ssds of this size are coming down around £60 regularly. I know they aren't exactly the same but still flash memory and if anything ssds would be the more expensive to make and ship due to the higher grade flash.

Even comparing to other micro sds this is poor as i got a 128gb for £20 a couple months back. That was a amazing deal but i have still seen plenty 128gb cards in the £25 to £30. Event at the higher of these prices this is still over 3x more for just double the capacity!

see the comment just above your own?
I don't understand people saying just buy x amount for cheaper... You're missing the point. You pay a premium to save that very issue and having 256GB in a micro SD is frigging amazing! The technology going into producing these is nuts and it's why it's a bigger price.

Switch out cards if you like... But that's crazy. Just buy 4Gb cards for cheaper if that's your way of saving.

Seems a decent price to me and I’m pretty sure the comment about sellotaping smaller ones together was deadly serious... Like this one.
Great deal. I paid £240 for a 200Mb hard drive to go in my Amiga 23 years ago.

256gb is far from cutting edge though, they have been around for years and have been cheaper. I think 500gb is the largest widely available and even those have existed fir over a year. So if you just want the biggest possible, with money no object then that is the more obvious choice.

If you want a good balance of capacity and value for money then 128gb cards at circa £30 make far more sense and still offer loads of storage...

You act like 256gb is something you can cook up in your kitchen. This is a great deal. As I said, go grab a 4gb or lower for a great deal!

This is a deal. This is a great price. This is what this site is about.
128gb for this card is £30. This is far too much. Not good value for me.
Can get a 4tb hard drive for less, cold.

I believe that we have 1TB as top
Been waiting for the price to drop on this but think I'll wait a bit longer.

I can't seem to find a hard drive slot in my phone. Any ideas?

If you'd told me in the 90s, when I bought a 1TB IDE drive, that we'd have 256gb the size of a fingernail I'd have thought you were mad!

This site drives me mad sometimes. The point is to save money on a specific item, not to compare the cost of apples vs oranges...

Possibly. Although in the world that we live in now, it's not far fetched for us to imagine the future capabilities.

Here's scene from Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) where he's remotely controlling his car >

Now what's interesting is this isn't science fiction anymore. You can remotely park an Audi A8 (this car has an amazing amount of tech, much of which I've never seen in a car before, like the active side impact protection, which is incredible) using a smartphone and you can use your smartphone with some Tesla cars to summon the car to you. In 1997 this was sci-fi, today it's reality.

Also even just 5 years ago you couldn't say "Alexa, switch on the lights". "Alexa tell me the weather for today" and many other examples of voice recognition. So I think today people won't be as amazed as what will happen in the future. It's massively obvious that robots will replace unskilled workers, which is a concern for those people in the future. So for a parent with a newborn or even a teenager now it's your absolute duty to make sure your child has skills required for the future as robots will price him/her out of the marketplace sooner than you can imagine.

The biggest Micro SD card you can buy is 400GB (From Sandisk) with a new 512GB card from Integral due out this month for an unknown sum.

SDXC comes in standard size and micro. The micro cards like the one shown here is what I was referring to.

Full size SD cards are available in much bigger capacities, sadly things like phones and tablets tend to use Micro SD.

Which means nothing as this isn't a standard SD card...

May as well say SSD have a capacity of 2TB as it's as much as relevant.

no point talking about irrelevant crap just t try and look smart

this is a micro sdxc card thread, ssd and full sized cards dont fit the slot so are basically irrelevant
time saved = time for getting a life!
