its on play for 419.99 seems like good reveiws odd bad one link

i got the 26" version of this and my friend's got the 32". Great TV for the price, sure, its not the best picture (SD picture through aeriel isn't great but still very watchable, and i'm used to sky HD through my 43" pio plasma) but for under £500 its a bargain.
As for the finish, high quality gloss black and great build quality.

This is an old tv, pah (just because something is the newer model, doesn't automatically make it better) my pio 436XDE is almost 3 years old and it still looks amazing.

It's a good TV but for this kind of money you can buy an updated model, if it was cheaper then it'd be a worthwhile purchase for sure.

They found it a few places now and it's generally £400 plus. So looks like it might be a great price, not many reviews though.

Where and is it a better model?

£326 for a 32" Sammy has to be a great deal.
HOT

This is certainly a good tv for the money, but the newer model can be bought for similar money.

Richer sounds are selling the newer model for £349.

Samsung LE32A456C (which as far as I know) is the same as the one in richer sounds can be bought online for £348 at dixons with codes . They seem to have their own model numbers for their samsung tvs. Use Code Fivetv to get extra 5% off +code Deltv for Free del.

Also back to the original deal dont forget Bargain Crazy are on quidco

This is an old model. It's a good TV but the technology on LCD's gets better all the time.

Good deal if you're after this particular TV for some reason, but you can get the newer version for not much more.

I've got the next one up the 88BD in my bedroom, picture quality is fantastic on mine

I got this TV for £355 over a year ago (thanks hukd!). It's not too bad at all. SD pic is fair-average, and sound could be better, but for this price, it's a great product.

If you have the intention to use the audio out, and connect this to a hifi to play the audio out speakers, then give this a miss. There is a slight lag between audio through the tv speakers and audio out, meaning using a hifi ur audio is slightly too late. v annoying but I've got used to it.

when this is the price for a 37", thats when i'll buy

What new tech is in the new model?

I got the 32" R88 (pretty much the same TV) 18 months ago for £519, which was v.cheap at the time. Instore price in Currys at that point was £700.
Good TV, I've had no complaints with it. I've got the "V+" box from Virgin Media, through the HDMI. Also got a Philips upscaling DVD/DivX player on one of the other HDMI sockets and an older XBox 360 through the VGA and picture is really good on all of them.
Have a PS2 on one of the Scart sockets though and pic looks pretty ****. LCD TV's really show up the picture limitations of older technology.

As for folk writing this off as it's an "old tv", so what? It's got a really good panel in it, and is probably the same panel Samsung are using in their existing 720p/1080i TV's.

I would suggest saving up a bit more cash and getting a 1080p telly though. A mate of mine had 2 Sky HD boxes, one to a Sammy 1080p 40" TV, and the other to a Sammy 1080p 37" TV, and the latter does look a fair bit better to be honest.

But, for the money, this telly is more than adequate.

I dont think the R87 is 2-3 years old. Maybe your friend has the R74. I bought this TV when it was released last year for £649.

blood it's this cheap now, although it's on 720p it's a really good tv, we have one easy to use and looks really pretty, nice for the xbox 360. hot in my word

Incorrect, that deal was for the Sony 32v4000, the lower model which isn't 1080p and can be had for £399.99 anyway, although was a good deal with the free home cinema.

Yeah your right, currys and pc world were doing the V4000 model with free home cinema.
W4000 is far better, as its 1080p and has 33,000 contrast ratio

The 87BD and 88BD are exactly the same spec, just with slightly different finishes

I won't claim to know anything about Sony LCD models but 1080p on the box could just mean that it accepts a 1080p signal and downscales it to fit the 720p panel.

Had this Tv for just over a year and paid £500 for it - great TV and it won lots of best in class awards at the time. Would buy it again at this price if mine wasn't still doing a cracking job with my V+, HTPC and Xbox 360

I got this for £329 about 9 months ago...and I got quidco too...:)

Paid just over £500 for the newer model R88, fantastic TV. I spent literally months and months deciding on a TV, and finally settled on the 32" sammy R88, again, fantastic TV, used fro XBMC with HD output, Xbox 360 dual monitors with DVI to HDMI and my server running on the VGA connection all runnig with my harmony 895.

If you have another sammy though beware that the remotes tend to send the same IR commands. I have the 20" sm2032mw sammy in the same room and the only annoyance is they both take the same IR commands.

Anyway great TV and good price, if the R88 can be had for practically same money, may as well get it.

R88 is not a newer model it's exactly the same as the R87 it's just that the models named R88 are made specifically for the Dixons group and the only difference is usually where the power button is placed there is a blue LED light where the speakers are. There is also the R86 version again the same but come in white glossy finish again made for the Dixons group.

I've got the 37" version of this telly great for the price.

Good deal, I got the 37" in April for £480 and think its a great tele - never had a problem with the sound, would say that the remote is quite slow but if you have sky thats not a problem! The bluray on it is great.

My parents have one of these (in white). Although they find the picture to be OK, I reckon television looks yuck on it. It can be improved somewhat by disabling the inbuilt processing and configuring in accordance with the settings given on the excellent hdtvtest.co.uk/

I'm sure it would be fine for games machines or high quality DVD, or for a bedroom or secondary room. But I certainly wouldn't want one as my main set.

What settings?

I have both a 40 inch and 32 inch Samsung HD lcd TV and the picture when connected to my Sky+ box is pixelated on both when you look closely and is not at all as good as I would have expected. I am using a gold plated Scart lead to connect the 2.

I have fiddled with the settings but nothing seems to make much difference to be fair.

A friend of mine has a Panasonic 50 inch plasma TV with the same sky+ and scart setup and his picture quality is much much better.

Any ideas?
